We were greeted by a smiling upbeat hostess with a welcome drink on the Terrasse with the most gorgeous view of The Valley and the surrounding mountains. They also were very accommodating with minor special requests and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

The restaurant and its delightful staff serve delicious Swiss dishes (breakfast, lunch & dinner) in a number of cozy dining areas inside & outdoors. Don’t forget to utilize the complimentary 4:00pm tea time (with more sweets than you can imagine) and all-day jacuzzi/sauna/pool/steam room/etc. available at the sister hotel across the street! The price is well worth the stay - you will not be disappointed!

This place just oozes historic charm! We’ve stayed here in winter & summer months and it’s lovely. If you’re looking for a place to rest your head in Kandersteg this is the place. The food consists of typical Swiss dishes, the rooms/beds are comfortable and you can use their sister hotel’s sauna/pool facilities across the street for free.

I was very impressed by the hotel itself. It’s over 350 years old and they have kept the old fashioned Bernese style. It’s filled with antiques and the staff dress in traditional costume. People could speak both German and English, as foreigners, we felt completely welcome. Also, last minute we lost our babysitter and had to bring our daughter with us. They brought a comfy bed and had it ready while we ate dinner. The food is exceptional and them have a wide menu to enjoy dinner. Try the mushroom fondue, it was great! Breakfast was very prettily served and delicious.

Apart from the obvious — the incredible location, landscape and historical surroundings — Ruedihus made sure to be extra generous with all kinds of free treats: chocolates, water, an abundant breakfast, tea and cake, and access to a really good wellness area with different kinds of saunas. You really do get A LOT for your money here.

I felt like I was staying in a living museum. The antique furniture, squeaky floorboards and comfortable bed made this a wonderful experience. All the staff were very friendly towards me and my dog. I loved it.

The hotel is beautiful - almost like staying in a museum. What is awesome is that you can use the spa of the sister hotel opposite. A very quaint hotel in a beautiful location for anyone who enjoys a break away from noise and civilization. I will definitely be returning. They made my dogs feel very welcome too!
