Located in Cairo’s Zamalek Island district , the Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino offers luxurious rooms with a balcony overlooking the river Nile or the gardens.

In my recent stay at Marriott Omar al Khayyam in Cairo, I had the pleasure of being assisted by Mr. Mina, the receptionist. Upon my arrival from the airport feeling a bit disheartened, Mr. Mina went above and beyond to make my day by graciously upgrading my room to a truly amazing suite. His exceptional kindness and attentiveness not only turned around my mood but also enhanced my overall experience at the hotel. I truly appreciate Mr. Mina's outstanding service and the thoughtful gesture that made my stay so memorable. Thank you, Mr. Mina, for your exceptional hospitality and for brightening my visit to Cairo.

Overlooking the Nile River and just a 5-minute walk from the Egyptian Museum, the 5-star Intercontinental Cairo Semiramis features a heated outdoor pool and an on-site casino, spa and gym.

My recent stay at the InterContinental Semiramis Cairo was nothing short of exceptional From the moment I arrived, the friendly and professional staff made me feel welcome and valued. A special thanks goes to Nevine, the front desk manager. Not only was she incredibly friendly and kind, but she also went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect Thanks to Nevine, I was upgraded to a beautiful room with the most stunning view imaginable - the perfect birthday surprise Speaking of birthdays, the staff truly made my day even more special. Upon returning to my room, I was delighted to find a delicious birthday cake waiting for me. However, it's the exceptional staff, like Nevine and Reem, that truly elevates this hotel to a whole new level. They made my birthday stay unforgettable, and I cannot thank them enough.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

The people that live there are so kind and welcoming.

The people that live there are so kind and welcoming. The city itself is so noisy and dirty. Most of the city looks like a war zone. The sales people can be completely rude and overwhelming. That being said, the historical side of things is unmatched in the world. The food, fruits and vegetables are amazing. After a week or so, you start to get the rhythm of the city and it sort of grows on you. Craziest drivers I've ever seen, but they somehow survive. It's a place you have to see at least once in your life.

Depends on where you are from, Cairo could be a whole another universe, as it was with me. After the innitial shock subsides, you start enjoying it. Quite dirty city, it smells bad most of the time. Driving in Cairo is like a survival but they somehow manage to drive "safe".

To see the best of Giza and Cairo we would definitely recommend a local guide and driver. They can navigate the busy road system there, and will know all of the best places to visit and eat. The only thing we would avoid next time is exchanging our money to Egyptian pounds... it is better to either use dollars or euros.

Cairo is a must see place, This hotel layout is nice with cottages, but rooms look old and bathrooms need a complete makeover, worn out look, tap in the tub had a leak. House keeping was not up to the mark as they forgot to place coffee and tea sachets. On requesting, it took 2 hours to reach the room. No mini refrigerator in the room. Needs more power plugs for charging devices. Something needs to be done for the mosquitos there after sunset. I stayed in Jaz group hotel in Cairo and Sharm. Both places need to revise their menu to add more international/asian stuff.

The staff was so wonderful. Some of the most friendly people I’ve ever met. They were really helpful with scheduling things to do and making sure all the guests were taken care of. You really cannot beat this location. Walking distance to many restaurants and the pyramids. You can see the pyramids from the roof. Some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. Also the driver the hotel set me up with was the best. He was so sweet and funny. Customs at the airport took forever and he waited for me for an hour with no complaints.

Location is a little weird and from our balcony I could jump to a another house that looked like a slum building Breakfast was large buffet of mediocre quality. Staff was good. Overall not a 5 Star experience mainly because of the room which needs some updating as it was old and musty and the wifi of course was substandard which I found in all hotels in Egypt. However it was the chaepest of the 5 Star hotels and was good value. Overall not bad but not fancy or 5 Star.

My time at the hotel was really good. The service was excellent, and Marwan, a guy who works there, was super helpful. He made me feel safe in a new country and gave me good advice about avoiding tricky situations in Egypt. Whenever I needed something, he was quick to help. They cleaned my room every day, paying attention to small details. The water there was the best I’ve had in Egypt. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Thanks for a fantastic experience!
