The worst thing in Paris for me was the rubbish in the streets, such as cigarettes butts and people not using the rubbish bins. There were many people lying or sleeping on the footpaths and begging everywhere. for food and money. I stayed Wednesday to Wednesday, working each day for 5-8 hours. It was my seventh trip to Paris but the longest and the first time staying in a non-tourist area. I think the length of the trip was perfect and staying in a residential area was a great idea. (Caveat: This only works if a 2 - 5-mile walk is OK. The things you want to see are NOT all in one place in Paris. That's really good if you want to get to know Paris and Parisians. It's not so good if you are going to be in pain or struggle with hills and steps and such.) One of the joys is buying your food at places where your residential neighbors do. Buying food for the day or for two days and making it at home is pretty great and I cannot overstate the quality and freshness of the food available. Embracing this makes Paris a really unique experience, really lovely, meaning that a place with a small kitchenette will improve one's trip to Paris by quite a lot. Last thing is... Try French. My French is terrible but my experience with the French is universally good. Tone down our clothes, dress normal, be respectful and nice, actively try to not inconvenience people, and actively try to speak to those around us and we won't have any problems in Paris. I firmly believe that most of the "the French are rude" comes from tourists thinking that we can walk into someone's establishment and say "give me one of those long rolls and a bottle of red wine," when we have a line of five people behind us. Paris is a city we love.
Paris is a city we love. It abounds in wonderful museums and churches. There are plenty of buses but we were in the 5th arrondissement and chose to go around on foot, my favourite day being the hours we spent in the Musee de Cluny, a treasure house of mediaeval art in a splendid mediaeval building which also has the impressive remains of Roman baths.Guest review bySylviaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

1 night to arrive, two days at Disney and 1 night in the Disney hotel (This is enough time if you have ride fast track pass) the 4 nights in central Paris! Loved it. Did the bus tour at night it was cheaper and much better to see all of the lights. River cruise was fun. Eiffel Tower is lovely. Important to know, I didn't go for the typical tourist thingies. No Louvre, no Eiffel Tower. I've done all of that already in the past. This was more about catching up with someone, having good food, plenty of wine and sitting in Cafe's, talking about life. Opposed to my past experience, the parisians were so accommodating and friendly. I've had several nice conversations with strangers and an overall feeling of being welcome wherever I went.
