Royal George Hotel, hotel in Birmingham

Located less than 10 minutes’ drive from Birmingham city centre, the Royal George Hotel offers free private parking.

Don’t expect luxury rooms they are very basic & the shower extremely small. However the sheets were clean & the bed pretty comfy. However, it’s the staff & the breakfast that make this place, the ladies that cooked and served our breakfast were exceptional and a credit to the place. The location is also great, quick easy access into the town Centre and if you’re there for a match at birminghams ground then I don’t think you could actually be any closer.

FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

Top-Class Shopping, Culture and Sport

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centres. Well-known for the M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it is a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city centre hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping centre, and just behind is Digbeth Coach Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Centre) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just opposite is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modelled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top football clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

I am physically disabled and access around the city was great! So helpful from train to city to hotel. It is very steep in some places but there were also plenty places to take breaks and rest. So many shops of different types! Myself and my partner are MTG players and there were so many shops that offered great deals!

I was born in Birmingham,it’s not as good as visiting before (9yrs ago) canal area still good restaurants good New st needs an upgrade, inflation has made going there as expensive as London.Religious propaganda (Muslim and Christian) dominated areas from St Martin’s church up to the shopping areas, shouldn’t be allowed, never seen that in London or Europe

Loved the relative ease of the comfort and convenience of the short walk from the Ibis Budget Hotel City Centre, to the user friendly New Street Train Station for daily Train rides to and fro Hilton Metropole at the NEC, a few minutes walk from the Birmingham International Train Station, with train rides as short as about 8 minutes from New Street Station. It's simply lovely the way the transportation is made comfortable for commuters and visitors, with the Coach Station, Train Station and the NEC, practically at the Airport. The fact that the Bullring Shopping Mall is just in front of the New Street Train Station with the Coach Station a stone throw away, is a huge plus. Well organised City obviously.

The staff were very friendly, they received us warmly. The rooms were tidy on arrival. but our 2nd day there, they didn't clean the room. We met it in the same mess that we left it, although I think that was partly our fault, because we had booked 3 rooms for the 1st night and 1 room for the next and we didn't inform the staff of the room we planned on retaining for the 2nd night.

Been a good few years since I was in this city , it has changed lots the city centre and square are impressive and clean,it's when you start moving outside of these areas you feel uneasy about walking around specifically at evening time. Its a very multicultural city the transportation around it isn't too bad, and the connection to the main airport are one of the best I've seen on my travels around....all in all if your going to visit Birmingham 1 day site seeing would be adequate.

I liked the impression of the hotel when you arrived.

I liked the impression of the hotel when you arrived. Like that the lift was working. I did not have high expectations. I did not like the shower it was small and cramped. The flooring in the bathroom look cheap and poor quality. The bed was comfortable and the bedding warm. The TV did not have many channels and no internet or satellite TV. Had to watch my favourite programmes on my IPAD. That is one of the reasons I always take it with me when I go to hotels. The location was difficult to find, it was not very pleasant and far to far away from the train station. I should have read the small print.
