Bell Tower 1 is set in an an exceptional parkland position on an historic country estate adjacent to the village of Lugwardine and 1.5 miles from the outskirts of Hereford City. The Manor of Newcourt with Roman and Saxon origins has records dating back to William the Conqueror. It passed to Simon de Montfort, Richard Warnecombe, Lord Chandos, Lord Beauchamp, the Rede and Griffiths families. Newcourt Manor and Bell Tower were designed by Henry Hake Seward, a pupil of Sir John Soane.
Guests can walk to the Crown and Anchor pub in Lugwardine for an excellent lunch or dinner. Local places of interest include the Mappa Mundi the oldest map in the world and the Chained Library at Hereford Cathedral, Hereford Cider Museum, the Black and White House Museum, the Waterworks Museum and the Violette Szabo GC Museum. Goodrich, Kilpeck and Eastnor Castles, Berrington Hall and Hampton Court are within easy reach. Some of the prettiest villages and towns in the UK of Pembridge, Leominster, Ludlow and Ledbury are well worth exploring. Michelin restaurants are Castle House Hotel, the Stagg Inn and the Moody Cow and other restaurants such as The Bookshop, La Madeleine, Madam and Adam, the Butchers Arms, the Green Man at Fowenhope, Glewstone Court, Temple Bar and Jules at Weobley are not to be missed. Nearby fitness facilities include country walks and rambling in the immediate area, a golf course and spa within 3 miles, swimming, tennis, squash, badminton, tennis and racquetball are open to paying guests at the Hereford Centre. Other activities such as clay shooting and metal detecting are available by prior arrangement.
