Crofters Retreat coastal self catering accommodation for two is situated next to Galson Farm in the small crofting community of South Galson on the NW coast of the Isle of Lewis. The thick stone walls of this old building creates a cosy cabin style bothy bringing together a unique rustic & eclectic style with extra touches that make your stay that little bit more special. The open plan living & sleeping space has a super comfy king size bed with cotton bedlinens & views into the garden. There is smart tv, free Wifi, wardrobe, hairdryer, storage, sofa & slipper chair. We supply books, maps & information to help you make the most of your stay. A separate fully equipped kitchen diner is were you can cook your meals & pop open a bottle of wine. There is a hob ,oven, microwave, coffee machine, fridge, table & chairs & a welcome pack to set you on your way. The shower room has a electric shower, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail & complimentary toiletries are provided. Outside there are far reaching panoramic coastal views towards the Butt of Lewis lighthouse in the beautiful enclosed stone walled garden & outdoor cobbled stone courtyard with bench & picnic table. Drinks can be purchased from the Guesthouse next door. A short walk takes you to the beach & miles of coastal walks. You can also walk the croft & meet our sheep with their lambs. There are bench seats located around the croft for you to have enjoy your picnic & take in some spectacular views & summer sunsets over the Atlantic ocean.

Hi my name is Elaine I would like to welcome you to the Isle of Lewis. Richard & I moved to the island 7 years ago & run a Guesthouse along with Crofters Retreat. I enjoy meeting people from around the world & sharing stories about our beautiful islands. We live next door so will always be there to help with advice & local information. We also run a croft & have a small breeding flock of blackface sheep. I enjoy the outdoor life, travel, cold water swimming, nature & exploring & look forward to meeting you soon.

South Galson is a small coastal crofting community. So there is every chance of seeing a sheep or two. It is a friendly & welcoming neighbourhood. There are lots of walks from the doorstep & just 5 minutes walk to the beach. We have panoramic coastal North Atlantic sea views towards the Butt of Lewis lighthouse. There is a small craft gallery next door. There are plenty of beaches close by & it is 10 mins drive to the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse & the Post of Ness, 25 minutes drive to Stornoway, 50mins to the Callanish stones, 30mins to the Blackhouse village. 60 mins to Isle of Harris. Easy access to restaurants a pub, cafes & convenience stores which are just a short drive away.
