Good Ship Lollipop Lodge is a modern holiday home sited on an exceptional park in Birchington-on-Sea, Kent. The site boasts a heated indoor swimming pool, 9 HOLE GOLF COURSE, clubhouse with bar, restaurant, live entertainment, amusement arcade & outdoor relaxation area with children's play area & CRAZY GOLF. Also onsite - shop, laundrette, Segway & Dino Go Kart hire, craft/pottery area. Minnis Bay a blue flag beach is 5 mins drive & offers free parking, toilets, Minnis Bay restaurant & cafes NB: some facilities close low season (Nov- March) & no commercial vehicles The lodge boasts 2 BATHROOMS both uniquely positioned with the bedrooms at either end of the lodge offering extra privacy for guests. There's a smart TV creating a comfortable cinema experience for the family with Netflix, Sky TV, Disney+ etc. Good Ship Lollipop Lodge is in a fantastic location being 7 mins drive from Margate with its sandy beach, bustling Old Town, fantastic restaurants and of course DREAMLAND with its concerts and a vintage funfair. This part of Kent boasts miles of sandy award winning beaches & local walks are breathtaking, particularly in the winter months. West Bay, Westgate-on-Sea bay - all worth visiting. Broadstairs is 15 mins drive and highly recommended as it is steeped in Charles Dickens' history & boasts 3 beaches! Whitstable is 30 mins drive & is a quaint/cute place to visit. Ramsgate is 20 mins with its harbour & Royal Brasserie restaurant (in the middle of the sea) The historical Canterbury is 30 mins drive & you can enjoy a punt in the summer. Quex Park is 1 min away & this amazing space offers craft shops, cafe & walk with alpacas. If guests would like to indulge in a hot stone massage, facial, etc just message us in advance & we will share the details of therapists 3 mins away we use regularly. Prices are very good & if you're travelling as a couple, they offer pampering treatments together. If the weather has a turn, enjoy a film at Westgate-on-Sea cinema
Welcome to Good Ship Lollipop Lodge, Kent where we hope you will have the most spectacular holiday and hopefully the sun will shine for you. If not, we know you will still have a fantastic time as there is so much to enjoy. We live locally and love this part of Kent with its miles of exciting sandy beaches, breathtaking views and stunning coastal walks. We believe life is about doing the things you love at every opportunity. We adore this part of Kent & explore at every opportunity. We enjoy gardening, history, sunbathing (of course), concerts, dancing, swimming & love eating Sunday lunch in the summer out on the decking overlooking the sea at Pegwell Bay Restaurant & Bar (15 mins drive). The views are stunning. We can frequently be found having afternoon tea at The Walpole Hotel in Margate. This magnificent eccentric hotel overlooks Walpole Bay & has featured in many films and TV shows because of its vintage appearance and 20's lift - still in use to service the museum upstairs and hotel. Book in advance for Sundays afternoon tea. We take pride in our lodge and all it offers and hope you will enjoy your stay & come and see us again and again. Please message us in advance for tips on where to eat (from fine dining to best chippy), best beaches, places of history, water parks in the area (Whitemills Wake and Aqua Park), cinemas, nearest supermarket etc. We want you to have a wonderful time and share with our guests all that this spectacular part of the Kent coast has to offer. We do include a guide in the lodge of best beaches etc.
Birchington-on-Sea has its own bay - Minnis Bay (5 mins drive). We also recommend the following bays and beaches: West Bay (5 mins), Margate (7 mins), Westgate-on-Sea (5 mins), Herne Bay (15 mins), Broadstairs (17 mins), Whitstable (20 mins), Ramsgate Beach and Harbour, Pegwell Bay (nature reserve area). History - Canterbury, Reculver Towers, Leeds Castle, Ramsgate, Broadstairs Shopping - Margate Old Town (arty), Canterbury (modern shopping), Whitstable (quaint gifts), Broadstairs (good all round). Art Galleries: Margate Turner Contemporary, Ramsgate, Broadstairs Cinema - Carlton Cinema Westgate-on-Sea - is 3 mins drive. Nearest food stores: Sainsbury, Co-op (Birchington High Street) or Co-op (Westgate High St) Quirky places: Walpole Bay Hotel (Margate) for afternoon tea (they often have a pianist), Tom Thumb Theatre (Margate), The Albion Rooms (Margate) owned by the band The Libertines. The band stand opposite overlooking the bay has live music in the summer. Pubs/bars: The Swan (Westgate), Paul's (Westgate), Powell Arms (Birchington), Gingers (Westgate) Restaurants: St Mildred's Bay - on the beach! (Westgate), Old Post Office (Margate), Quince (Westgate), Royal Harbour Brasserie - (sea view) (Ramsgate), The Jetty (sea view) (Broadstairs), Pegwell Bay Hotel & bar (sea view), Bay Tree Hotel - (sea view) (Broadstairs) Cafes: Quex park, Chippy in Westgate, Beanos for breakfast/llunch (Westgate), West Bay Cafe, Love (Margate), Award winning Indian - Flavours by Kumar (Ramsgate) - much better than the Margate version (we think) a real treat if you love authentic Indian food. Go to the restaurant itself for the full experience. Dreamland in Margate opens in early April until the winter. Great funfair rides. This is the location for Empire of Light (Sam Mendes' film) Shell Grotto in Margate - interesting. Nearest chemist - Westgate-on-Sea, High Street or Birchington High Street. Nearest train station - Westgate-on-Sea or Birchington (London is 1'40" direct)
