I loved the mismatch of furniture and furnishings! It was a chilly weekend but the fire made it so cosy!

Company info

Back of Beyond is a family run business owned and managed by us, Martin & Victoria Bowrey. We bought the park back in 2013 following the sale of our family home and business in London. At the time we knew nothing about the touring and glamping industry other than what we had experienced ourselves as customers. We had plenty of business experience though so knew the basics but based everything else on our instincts and created a park we would like to visit. Our customer feedback over the years has been welcomed and we have listened to positive feedback and constructive criticism to hone the park to meet and often exceed our customers expectations. We have a small team of loyal staff, who all live onsite and have become part of our extended family and offer the same level of personal service to our customers as we do. Our 3 young adult sons also regularly join the workforce during weekends and holidays running the bar and supporting our entertainment events. We have won multiple awards and have just been voted a Top 100 Site for the 4th year running.

Property info

Are you looking for peace and quiet? Sometimes the birds can be a bit noisy, but that’s as loud as it gets at Back of Beyond! It’s an multi-award winning adult only, touring, camping and glamping park where you can relax and enjoy nature. Let the rustic, natural charm of Back of Beyond provide a tranquil base for your break or holiday. Staying here you can get back to nature and tune in to our ‘quality of life’ philosophy. Enjoy simple pleasures such as listening to birdsong, stargazing on a clear night, walking through the 18 acres of woodland, sitting by our private lake or while away an evening watching the flames in your very own fire pit. We take conservation seriously and our focus is on providing habitats for many species of wildlife, so we let wild plants thrive, while running our park with sustainability in mind. We are dog friendly and allow dogs to stay with you in 5 of our 9 glamping units and they will love to explore our woodland off the lead. Plus you can give them a warm shower, or find them a special treat in our shop. We have a licensed shop in Reception selling local produce, basics and treats as well as wines, beers and spirits. You can also pre-order freshly baked pastries for breakfast and buy freshly made tea, coffee and hot chocolate throughout the day. Most evenings from April to September we have a visiting mobile catering van onsite offering a variety of take-aways across the week. These can be enjoyed in Monty's bar or taken back to your glamping unit. We have an outdoor bar called Monty’s which provides plenty of seating and outdoor heaters including a log burner to keep you warm. Sit by the fish pond and enjoy a glass of something in a relaxing atmosphere, perfect after a busy day’s exploring. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome to join you. Our fully licensed bar stocks local beers, spirits and wines. If you are in the mood for celebrating, then we also have champagne or prosecco. We are open April - September every night 4pm - 8pm.

Neighborhood info

There’s so much to discover in this area! We’re close to the vast New Forest National Park, near Bournemouth with its great beaches, and just a short ride from scenic countryside of Dorset and Wiltshire. Towns, cities, national attractions, gardens and many places of interest are easy to reach. Close to our park within easy walking distance is: The Woodman (15-20 mins) – a dog friendly Marston’s pub and restaurant, near the entrance to our lane. East Moors Riding School (7 mins) – woodland trekking or private hacks in the vast Westmoors Plantation, located on our approach lane. A longer walk or cycle is: Hurn Forest – (20-25 minutes walk) is a large stretch of heathland and woodland with miles of tracks and trails, entrance on Boundary Lane which goes from our nearby roundabout – great for dogs. At the Woolsbridge roundabout to the north (30 minutes walk) on this side of the the A31, there is an M&S convenience store, a Greggs and a Subway. The St Leonards Hotel – (30-40 minutes) is on the opposite side of the A31 towards Ringwood. Dogs welcome. Within a 10 minute drive is Ringwood our nearest town, a traditional country town with a good selection of shops, coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, some of which deliver to our site. It has a Waitrose, a Sainsbury’s and a large Lidl. Places in Ringwood worth a visit are: Ringwood Meeting House & History Centre Local talks, art exhibitions and activities at Greyfriars Community Centre Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre Markets – Ringwood market every Wednesday in the Market Place, Antique and Decorative Arts Market quarterly in the Furlong and Farmers Market in the Furlong last Saturday of the month. To see the free-roaming ponies, cattle, deer and in the Autumn pigs, cross the cattle grids and enter the wonderful world of the New Forest – 219 square miles of woodland and heathland, towns, villages and coast. You can walk or cycle for miles and there’s no shortage of pubs and cafes for pit-stops.
