Just 5 miles north of Bampton you arrive at timeless Exmoor National Park offers towering sea cliffs, high moors, tumbling streams and deep valleys that shelter a unique Atlantic Rain forest. On Exmoor it is still possible to find peace and tranquillity, or rediscover your sense of adventure; spot the wonderful Exmoor ponies who have free reign, or catch a glimpse of wild red deer, be amazed by dark skies full of stars and explore quaint villages full of character and charm.
Just 6 miles away you can discover Knightshayes – a great post-war garden, 19th-century parkland and grand Gothic Revival architecture by Victorian visionary William Burges.
Stunning Dunster Castle and Watermill and the wonderful mediaeval village of Dunster of Lorna Doone fame sits just off the North Devon coast, and is recommended for a day out at just 17 miles away.
