High View Barn is situated in the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The view from the property simply gorgeous. You can see across to the Malvern Hills in one direction and to the Forest of Dean in the other. The barn itself is a very modern eco friendly conversion of an old hay barn dating back to the 1800s. Its brilliant cork insulation, ground source underfloor heating and triple glazed floor to ceiling windows make this place one of the warmest you will ever stay in. In the summer you can open up the windows to the stunning scenery being both inside and outside at the same time. The property is set half a mile from the nearest road along a woodland track so your privacy is guaranteed. There are great walks right from the property. There are also some lovely pubs and restaurants to visit and the town of Monmouth is just 5 miles away. There are loads of places to explore in the area and activities for all ages including canoeing on the beautiful River Wye.
We are passionate about our place. Our land extends to 63 acres with wild flower meadows and woodland teaming with wildlife - deer, rabbits, badgers, foxes, weasels, stoats, bats and a huge variety of birds, insects and invertebrates. We like to think that we share this habitat with them and we would like you do be able to do so as well. We also enjoy walking and cycling and listening to great music especially jazz.
The Wye Valley offers many activities such as canoeing along the River Wye, fabulous walking trails and the beautiful Forest of Dean. We have many good restaurants and pubs in the area. There are many beauty spots - Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, White Castle, Skenfrith Castle, Llanthony Priory and right next to barn the wonderful 11th Century Penallt Old Church. e are also just an hour from Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester and Hereford which are great cities to explore.
