The hosts were very hospitable and were more than happy to let us have a late checkout time. They made sure that the heating was on in the property for our arrival, gave us a tour of the property and gave us recommendations on walks nearby.
As for the property itself, the farmhouse was huge. Very cozy. The kithen was exceptionally well stocked. Also the bed in the main bedroom was very comfy.

Family have just moved to the beautiful town of Oswestry.
Family have just moved to the beautiful town of Oswestry. The people in the town who we engaged with, were all very friendly and helpful. We have a newborn baby with us and the Fox pub, which is a lovely local pub, saw said baby and immediately lit the fire to welcome her and keep her warm. That is the essence of the people in this town.

Oswestry is a lovely town.
Oswestry is a lovely town. It is an ideal place to stay to visit both Powys Castle and Chirk Castle over a two day period. We found everyone we spoke to very friendly and helpful. There is a nice range of shops and a good choice of restaurants, cafes and pub for food.

Lovely town, with lots of independent retailers and a really nice indoor market. There are the usual empty shops you get in most towns nowadays, some of them really beautiful buildings, so hopefully they will fill up again - or perhaps the local council could have an initiative with pop-up shops to make use of the space?
We were lucky to be staying at Sebastian's, in the town centre, which has free parking. It's annoying to have to pay for parking otherwise, which we've done on short visits before. Even blue badge holders have to pay, although get an extra hour 'free'. We live in West Oxfordshire and all public car parks in Witney, Chipping Norton and Burford are free.
Surrounding villages pretty* but no pubs open lunchtimes that we could find, mainly evenings only. Oswestry has plenty, and we enjoyed the open mic night at the Griffin, and the Bailey Head is brilliant with a huge choice of craft beers and real ales.
Lovely parks right in the centre, including a fully fenced dog park, free for users.
Really nice town, friendly people and would consider moving here.
*Watch out for some of the country roads - on leaving and en-route to Kelsall, attempting to avoid horrendous tailbacks on the main A-road, we strayed into Wales and found ourselves (thanks to sat-nav) on what could only be described as a track - no signage to indicate the road was out of use, and once we were committed, couldn't turn around so had to soldier on for a couple of miles through the worst 'road' I've ever driven on. Don't use Garmin TomTom app, stick with Waze!!

Oswestry is not a tourist town.
Oswestry is not a tourist town. We visited due to my family history research. Still a pleasant little town.
Old Oswestry hill fort just to the north of the centre was the highlight for me.
As in most UK towns, the ambience of the town is spoiled by a few selfish hoons deliberately making noise with cars and motorbikes.

Oswestry is an agricultural small town and as such is quite rare in England so a really great place to wander around. Interesting local shops and plenty of cafes and pubs but beware, after 15:00 there was no food to be had (on a Thursday)! Only coffee and cake! Large carparks which is a mixed blessing. Personally I thought that too much of the town was given over to asphalt and the parking was too cheap! Many would see this as a bonus!

Small town but several pubs and restaurants to chose from, many independent eateries and shops as well as the old favourite for some Wetherspoons, WHSmiths, Costa, B&M etc. lovely indoor market and outdoor stalls on our weekend visit. All close together so easy to cover. No cars allowed in shopping area so safe for pedestrians & families.
British Ironworks was closed on Sunday which was
a shame as planned to drop in. Lovely evening meals in townhouse Brassiere and Sebastian’s, excellent standard of service and decor.
This property truly exceeded my expectations! The spacious layout and cozy atmosphere made it feel like a home away from home. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the soft sheets added an extra touch of luxury. Cleanliness was impeccable throughout the entire property. The breathtaking views from the location were simply spectacular. The host's friendliness and hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable getaway, and I can't wait to return myself!
Chilton House is a large Victorian house which has been tastefully modernised by Hosts Rob & Melissa. It's in a quiet area but only about 10 mins walk from Oswestry Town Centre. We were warmly welcomed and our room was spacious and very well presented with a lovely bathroom. There is a large garden with outside seating for Guests. Nothing was too much trouble for Rob & Melissa and the cakes on arrival were appreciated. Breakfast was freshly cooked with a good choice on offer. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Well Done.
Lovely, compact and cozy house in a beautiful, quiet rural setting, yet a very convenient location for Oswestry and welsh borders. Hosts were very easy to communicate with, and very accommodating to our requests. They clearly look after the property with care and attention to detail, and there were lots of unanticipated extras - the good collection of board games were a real source of enjoyment to our son. A great place to stay.
We have driven past this hotel many times and always thought, it would be lovely to stay there. We were not disappointed. The hotel is beautiful and has the ambience of a grand old house which is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The staff at dinner and breakfast were attentive, but not overbearing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Lovely place in beautiful, rural location. Everything you need for a comfortable, restful break away. The hosts are very friendly and are on hand to help if required without being intrusive. Ideal if you just want to relax and unwind. Oswestry is a fantastic base to explore Shropshire and North Wales. A beautiful part of the world with so much to see and do.
Nice stay, clean, convenient, good host.
Just a few things could be added, there are no sockets on landing at all for a night light, hair dryer or to plug hoover in. No mirror in bedrooms to do make up or hair.
The mattresses in single bedroom were too comfy, thin, springy, I had gran daughter to stay over for a night so slept in single room with her.
Fabulous modern and stylish room with automatic skylights and a lovely bathroom. The owner is delightful and very kind and helpful. The rooms are all situated off a private courtyard (which is lovely) and lead to a private parking area. You should really opt for the breakfast add-on in their superb restaurant...it was fabulous!
Great location for rural break. Staff were helpful from the getgo. Great views from walk out from hotel.
Dinner was delicious. Good wine selection. Room was comfortable with private aspect. Lots to do in area, Llangollan, walks, and waterfalls. Loved the lack of road noise and being able to hear all the birdsong in the morning.
Very centrally located, super clean and well kept apartment. Although they don't always, the owner happened to be outside as we arrived and was more than helpful in showing us in. I really liked that it is owned by the Italian restaurant above it, who will deliver their food to you with a 10% discount. That was a nice touch.
Very comfortable bed. Clean, in oswestry Town centre. I have no negatives, all good. I have an idea, I think the TV should be mounted on the inside bedroom door if your watching from the kitchen door open, want to watch in bed close door. thank you for a pleasant stay
The owner was very helpful and welcoming, even met us for frèe from train, the house is really beautiful, the room was extremally clean, well equipped, the bed very comfortable, the breakfast - rich, fresh and tasty. Ideal place to stay in Oswestry. Highly recommended!
Melissa and Rob welcomed us like family. The house is amazing. They have done and excellent job of restoration and used the finest quality fixtures, etc. Breakfast was exactly as we ordered. We especially enjoyed the fruit plate. An excellent place to stay!
We loved everything about our stay. Absolutely spotless throughout and a pleasure to stay there. A lovely welcome and an amazing room ensured a fantastic time and next time we visit Oswestry we will re book without hesitation.
Great little holiday barn, stayed with my 2 x cavapoos while visiting friends in Oswestry which was a short distance away. Welcoming hosts, cosy barn with very comfy bed & good shower. Would stay again if in the area!
Really helpful Staff, gorgeous location, peaceful and with an excellent breakfast. And the restaurant looked great - just wish we’d had time to sample dinner there. But the afternoon tea and supper was lovely.
Great old hotel atmosphere. Extremely comfortable sleeping arrangements. Very quiet and felt safe. Restaurant very convenient with the absolute best sticky toffee pudding!
