Fort Augustus is a charming village 8 miles north and is the gateway to Loch Ness. It offers many places of interest and boat trips on Loch Ness itself. There are also places to eat here. For ski-ing The Nevis Range and The Cairngorms are about a 30 minute drive away. A 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk along the Great Glen Way to the Eagle Barge signposted on A82 towards Fort William at South Laggan, a floating pub which also does meals or drive I miles to Fort Augustus to The Bothy which sits next to the 3 staircase locks leading onto Loch Ness and enjoy a meal and a pint with the locals. There is also a gluten free fish and chip shop. For lovers of lndian food the Spice Tandoori in Fort William itself is highly recommended or Whispering Pines along the A82 towards Fort William. Both these locations offer a standard non Indian menu. Another location which comes highly recommended by the locals is The Jaggy Thistle approximately 10 minutes from the park which serves breakfasts, lunches and in season early evening meals.
