Lovely quiet location surprisingly easy to find and it felt.very secure. The room was perfect for us and our two spaniels and it was lovely to have a kitchen right next door so we could make breakfast and tea in the morning. There was bread, yogurts and jams left out for us and coffee pods in the room so we couldn't have asked for more for an overnight stay. Having easy access straight out onto the grassed area in the morning was perfect for the dogs and both owners were lovely and friendly when we met them. Definitely will return when visiting the moors or the zoo which was just down the road. Thank you too Debbie for posting hubby's jumper back. You're a super host 😁.

Unwind and get away from it all in one of our luxurious guest rooms, part of our newly converted barn, situated in the village of Sparkwell, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The modern rooms provide a private tranquil space, with all mod cons, luxury linen, toiletries and fluffy towels, making a perfect retreat all year round. The location is ideal for walking, cycling and wild swimming, with the coast, local market towns and Plymouth on the doorstep. Well behaved dogs are accepted and continental breakfast is included.
I am a Physiotherapist working for a social enterprise company on behalf of the NHS. I work in the community supporting older people to age well and remain in their own homes. I have several properties in Plymouth and have just completed the conversion of The Shippen, which is my home and look forward to welcoming you.
The Shippen provided stabling for the main farm house, once inhabited by Saxons and chronicled in the 1086 Doomsday book. The Shippen is on the edge of the the village of Sparkwell, which is home to Dartmoor Zoo (the film 'We bought a zoo' was based on this zoo), Welbeck Manor hotel, golf course and restaurant and the Treby Arms. The village has a school and a village hall, where the farmers market and other events are held. It is easily accessible from the A38 and there are several very good restaurants and ancient woodlands to wander through in Sparkwell and in the surrounding villages.
