Peter was there to welcome us with all info we needed. He couldn't have been more helpful and ensuring our stay was comfortable and pleasurable. The wood burner was a real treat after our camping trip in Shetland.

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful Cottage in a tranquil location on the west mainland area of the Orkney islands. Madras cottage can sleep up to 6 people as it has two bedrooms, a living room( with a pull out sofa bed), a kitchen for all your cooking needs and a bathroom with a shower. Surrounded by beautiful green farmland, over looking the Loch of Harray which is famous of its trout fishing and the hills of Hoy in the distance.
Madras Cottage located in the outskirts of Harray village on the west mainland area of Mainland Orkney, approximately 1 mile from Dounby village where you’ll find all local amenities like post office, petrol station, doctor surgery, pharmacy , supermarket. You will also find a local butcher shop, pub and restaurant. The cottage is surrounded by green farmland so you will be able to see both farm animals like sheep, cattle and wild animals in the likes of greyleg geese, pheasants and rabbits, just to name a few. A truly peacefull location in the farming heartland of mainland Orkney. There’s a lot of historic sites of orkney only a short distance away, standing stones of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar is only 4 miles away so as the Neolithic village of Scara Brae. Major towns of Orkney like Stromness and Kirkwall are both approximately 10 miles away.
