Very modern 2BR apartment, terrific for families or two couples. Apparently has gotten too much use since it was built given the pandemic and felt brand new.

Kirkwall is a vibrant friendly place to visit. As a lone traveler I feel safe and comfortable. The locals are friendly and helpful. The cathedral the Earls palace are well worth a visit The St Ola does great lunches/dinners as does the Kirkwall hotel. Trips to other islands can be booked and taken from the harbour.
A pleasant town center, a cathedral very much worth exploring, two distilleries worth visiting nearby, plus a not too taxing drive to visit the Heart of Neolithic Orkney. Kirkwall is a very nice town to explore.
City is totally walkable, and you are surrounded by history. Neolithic sites are within 30 minutes of Kirkwall and there are two fantastic distilleries - Highland Park and Scapa - within walking distance of the downtown core. Residents are friendly and quick to help. Lots of interesting artisan shopping options and wide variety of restaurants, pubs and cafes.
Beautiful seaside down with lots of artisan shops to look through. Best to book into attractions and taxis in advance as cruise ships of around 3000 people can mean you have no transport of able to see things. If planned it’s an amazing place. Wish I’d stayed longer to tour the islands. Definitely a better place to say than Stromness. Kirkwall has some great places to eat and drink. Lucanos for Italian was fabulous. Can be windy in Orkney so pack an ear warmer or hat and a raincoat in case it rains sideways! Can’t wait to come back in spring time. Autumn was nice not really to cold at all. Book into distillery tours.
Interesting variety of shops and places of historical interest to visit. Places to eat or have a coffee/cake on the main street. People were very friendly and helpful at the information and travel centre. Harbour and ferry terminal with a marina. Weather was warm and sunny but can be changeable. Everything within walking distance but a car would be preferable if historic sites out with the town are on your agenda. Buses run regularly between the main towns but not to more rural locations.
Our only disappointment was the weather that weekend we were there. Forty knot winds and rain. Also Sunday most places close very early and bus service is sporadic. If we had had a rental car, it would have been far more enjoyable. As such what we were able to do was quite impressive. We had our best food experience at the Archive (Old Library) an entree called "The Royale".
The central location of the hotel was great. The rooms were well furnished, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the young women who handles the breakfast is an amazing worker who deserves all she earns and more. It was priced a bit higher than I would have considered reasonable until I realizes that the particular weekend we were there was one with numerous festivals and, ultimately, we were lucky to a get a quality hotel with this location at this (higher than normal) price.
The Kirkwall Hotel was located in a lovely spot overlooking Kirkwall Harbour. It was very easy to access the nearby shops. The room was warm, had a very comfortable bed and plenty tea/ coffee making supplies etc. which were always topped up every day, despite the covid restrictions. A lovely reading room was available for guests and tasty evening meals were served by very helpful dining room staff.
Kirkwall
This was the perfect accommodation for a group trip to Orkney. It was spacious, clean and the location couldn't have been more central to the Kirkwall attractions and transport. We all had a fantastic time and felt very welcome here. Letting us leave our bags on the last day was very kind and appreciated. Thanks!
Kirkwall
Excellent hosts, the B&B was excellent value for money compared to other hotels we stayed at on the Island. A great location, and such attention to detail. No UHT milk here! Excellent tea/coffee/biscuits, spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend. Will use again in the future.
Kirkwall
Staggering distance from Highland Park distillery. A warm welcome, clean and an interesting property with architecture, books and musical interest. Peaceful, and a modest walk into Kirkwall. A great breakfast, delightfully presented. Everything but the girl. Hey ho.
Location was the primary reason I booked this hotel, as we were coming off of the ferry late at night. Our room was ready for us, and everything was beautifully seamless! The night staff were so helpful - we were even able to do some laundry there.
