This historic coaching inn dates back to before the English Civil War. Just 3 miles from Banbury, there is a traditional bar, a restaurant and rooms with free Wi-Fi overlooking the village green.

Perfect location for attending a wedding up the road. Walkable back at night.
Lovely friendly staff, beautiful room with character and fantastic bathroom.
They were also great at accommodating me for lunch and breakfast as a Coeliac.

Central location for Banbury. Spacious room. Bar area looked nice although didn't use it. Quick and friendly response when I requested a hairdryer. Bottled water in room. Bed was comfortable.

Nothing! The room stank of gloss paint - it was overpowering. The bed was ok, however the linen was “brand new” and still had the manufacturers dressing on it. The bathroom had a lock on the outside of the door, but, importantly , not one on the inside of the door. The mirror was suspended by string, was heavy, and if dislodged would have caused serious damage. There were no net curtains, to provide some privacy at ground floor level. The television didn’t work. The only light switch in the room meant having to switch off, by the door, and then blindly find your way to bed. There was no catering, no breakfast, and no evening meal. The man on the desk was very rude and not helpful, or interested. To be charged £120, for this lack of any hospitality, is an insult and a disgrace. The “hotel” should be closed until such time as it is able to provide any hospitality. The description on booking.com, is absolutely and totally misleading. We were advised £100 and then billed for £120, adds insult to injury. And it makes our faith in booking.com, severely tested, and in doubt for any future bookings. There are many other booking agents.

Ideal quiet location, close to all amenities of Banbury, on a main bus route. Property was clean and tidy, the room was very comfortable, with everything you would need for a short stay.

The property was a period public house that had a great sense of history of which the owners have retained. Plenty of space for parking added to the pleasure and ease of the visit.

The pub is fabulous. Very nicely decored, clean with such genuinely friendly staff. The cooked breakfast I had was probably the best I remember every having. Would definitely recommend staying here, it was faultless

Banbury is an expanding commuter town, that was once a small market town.
Unfortunately the market is no where near as large as it once was. The town centre is busy and has all the amenities you could wish for . Two pubs worth a visit are The Reindeer and The White Horse.
Regretfully there is very little here of historical interest due to inept planning in the 60s and 70s, there are however some wonderful places to visit close by

Banbury is a fabulous place to visit, and stay.
Banbury is a fabulous place to visit, and stay. Plenty of things to do, ideally situated to explore the 5 counties. Town centre is good, but its the nightlife that excels, plenty of great pubs serving real ales, and plenty of mulit-cultural cusine, but you can still slum it with American fat food too if you so desire.

I was not visiting Banbury, the hotel is in Deddington 6 miles south of Banbury. I/we were staying for family reasons, but you would probably stay at the hotel for its location in relation to the Cotswold in general.

Charming hotel located in a small village of thatched cottages. We only stayed one night as a stop-over on our way to see other parts of the UK. I did not research the area to see what was near by for those who may want to stay more nights. Loved the decor and had a lovely outside garden area to relax, and enjoy drinks or meal. Food was very good, reasonably priced and friendly service. Dinner service was a bit slow however.

Banbury itself is not the greatest spot (I used to live around the area for many years myself before moving away) however, there are so many other places to visit it doesn't matter. Banbury is excellent for grocery shopping with all tastes catered for and a range of supermarkets from Lidl up to Waitrose. Enjoy !
Breakfast is the weak point. Booked hoping for options of a breakfast menu and hot fresh coffee and instead got shrink-qrapped croissant & muffins and coffee bag with a kettle that barely reached the power socket. What's more, there were staff mopping the floors in the morning but, despite there being a nice coffee machine on the bar, they would not/could not make guests coffee. Such a cute property that couldn't rustle up a quality breakfast was a major disappointment.
Lovely property set within a small village, very quiet at night, parked car on road opposite property, safe and secure nice residential area, 10 mins into centre of Banbury 15 mins to M40. Plenty of restaurants around of all types. Breakfast was just perfect, freshly cooked and great selection, cereal, full cooked breakfast, cafetiere of freshly ground coffee, nice selection of toast,.
The location of this hotel from the main centre is excellent. The gentleman who I guess is the proprietor was very friendly. I liked the fact the our room was in the car park area as opposed to the main hotel. Also, if you're using the hotel as accommodation for going to a special event, there is an iron and ironing board which some hotels and B&B's lack.
Amazing hospitality and very welcoming family-run owners. Thank you all! Easy large free parking on site and less than 5 minutes drive to Banbury city centre and M40. The room is beautifully newly designed, and the bed is super comfortable. Breakfast is tasty too, with a large proportion and 5-star service! I will definitely book again!
the house was very old an full of character which is what we as a couple like instead it square plain rooms etc . Landlady was very friendly an told us our room was about 600 years old an a roaring real fire in reception area . can’t fault it at all , thank you , Andy Pacey and lorraine keane we will go back for sure 👍
Michelle was a delight - very friendly, warm, and helpful. Could not ask for a better experience. Her home is charming and our room warm and comfortable.
Breakfast was perfect.
We will certainly stay with Michelle and Paul again when next we're in Banbury!
It was a lovely little hotel/guesthouse with great pub and restaurant combined. When in the area again, will definitely chose to stay there. Breakfast (included) was first class, hoping next time I stay, that English marmalade is available !!.
Very good Full English breakfast. Hotel well placed for the activities that brought me to Banbury. Staff very helpful - e.g carrying bag up to my room. Bed comfortable and I had two very good (for me) ngihts' sleep.
Quiet area, private parking, very friendly and helpful owners, great views and good facilities. Well worth a trip to Hook Norton Brewery for breakfast too.
