If you are looking for a peaceful escape in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, Riverside Cottage at Helwith Bridge is the perfect place for you. This cosy, quirky slate cottage is nestled in the heart of the Dales, offering stunning views and easy access to everything the Three Peaks area has to offer. There's a friendly pub a few steps away, the property is built on the banks of the River Ribble and overlooks the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. Ultrafast broadband (500mbps) is included.
From Birmingham and Country Durham we love unique homes in places we feel comfortable. We live with our cat, Sooty in Mevagissey, Cornwall. David is a digital nomad, geek and useless fact lover while Craig volunteers for a cat charity in Portugal. We both enjoy a peripatetic lifestyle! Entry is via key box.
Helwith Bridge is a historic hamlet that is almost entirely built from slate flagstones taken from local quarries. Possibly constructed between 1780 and 1950, the house was once two cottages and is delightfully quirky with wonky floors, creaking floorboards and a plumbing system that, well, is interesting! The neighbourhood consists of an amazing pub with great ale, great food and characterful locals. There's no shop, so bring you own shopping or pop into Settle to grab your daily requirements. There are also fabulous local grocers in Clapham and Austwick, but you'll still need to drive, hike or cycle! Don't expect a manicured location with sweeping lawns or a rural idyll. Helwith Bridge was a working hamlet built on the River Ribble (we are literally on the banks of the River) and adjacent to the Settle to Carlisle railway with fast connections to Leeds and Carlisle. The area is punctuated by contemporary and old quarries, with the local two quarries still producing most on the anti-skid roadstone used on Motorways and Airfields across the UK, so Helwith Bridge's history is all about slate, surrounded by some of the best countryside in England. We're quite easy to get to, but please be patient if visiting in peak weeks as your road journey may often involve caravans or slow moving lorries. Take your time, stop off for a coffee and cake and arrive in one piece - we think it'll be worth it. This is a place where you'll have all the day to day comforts and have access to the famous three peaks walks on your doorstep. For something more leisurely, there's local walks, fishing, cycling routes and shopping too!
