The facility is like an attached granny unit (hence 40A not 40) which is completely self-contained, very nicely furnished, and with a fine kitchen. The parking out front is free and great and safe. We used this as a base to spend several long days in Cambridge, and it was perfect for that. There is nothing close by to walk to, no pub, supermarket, restaurant, etc, so you really need a car to do anything like that. A bus runs by the house but we had no idea of the schedule. You can't drive into town since Cambridge actively discourages cars by charging exorbitant prices for parking. They want it to be mainly a bus/bike/walk town. Once we got used to the routine, though, we appreciated the huge saving we got by staying outside of town. When we first looked for a booking, the in-town hotels were unbelievably expensive (you can of course stay in the student dorms during summer break if you enjoy a hosteling experience with little privacy).
