Information correct at time of writing. On the doorstep of The House of Black & White you will find The Torrington Commons, with beautiful flower meadows, ancient woods, and the river Torridge. From Torrington commons you can join The Tarka Trail which is one of the country's longest continuous traffic-free walking and cycling paths. Great Torrington town centre is just outside the door and has a few local shops, several pubs, an arts centre, museum, Dartington Crystal, a swimming pool and the town holds local seasonal events. Just next door to The House of Black & White, you will find Black Horse, serving food Tuesday - Saturday until 8pm. The town of Bideford is just a pleasant 15 minute drive away, and Westward Ho! can be reached in 20 minutes. The great beaches of Croyde, Saunton Sands, Putsborough and Woolacombe are all within easy reach, so there is plenty to see and do when staying at The House of Black and White. A short drive away are many beaches under half an hour away on the North Devon coast, and opportunities for some beautiful days out, including Rosemoor Gardens, Hartland Abbey, Clovelly Village, and Arlington Court.
