This country house hotel is located just past the North Devon District Hospital, less than 5 minutes’ drive from Barnstaple town center. It offers free on-site parking and an award-winning restaurant.... Not just a good hotel: Amazing museum of modern art and fine cousine restaurant. Great place indeed!
Located opposite Rock Park and only a short level walk to the town center, this modern 4-star hotel offers easy access to the countryside and beaches of North Devon. The beds are amazingly comfortable. The staff were very helpful and polite. The interior flower decorations were beautiful and the exterior grounds were all neat and tidy with attention to detail.

Located in Barnstaple, Pyne Arms offers accommodations with free WiFi and TV, as well as a garden and a bar. The nearest airport is Exeter International Airport, 58 miles from the bed and breakfast. We loved everything! Friendly family atmosphere, great rooms, modern in an old building and spotlessly clean. Food is restaurant quality.
Riverside Court Apartment is located in Barnstaple. Housed in a building dating from 2000, this apartment has free WiFi. You collect the key from a lock box so don’t need to worry about timing. Very close to M&S plus downtown. It had all you would need , washing machine /dryer. Oven microwave fridge/freezer. Well stocked kitchen utensils, you could definitely cook dinner here easily.very spacious. They also did nice touches with bread, milk butter coffee, tea in kitchen which was nice as we arrived after 4pm.
The Spinney is an 18th-century country house just 9 minutes' drive from Barnstaple town center. It is located in the heart of North Devon, just 7 miles from Exmoor National Park. The hosts were wonderful and the breakfast was the best on our trip. We loved our stay at the Spinney!

We only spent one day at Barnstable but it seemed a pleasant town with quite a few shops and a nice walk/cycle route along the river. There were signs for the Tarka trail along the riverbank. As it was a Sunday we did have a carvery in a hotel at the end of the High Street, I think it was called the Royal Fortescue. Plenty of car parks and a park and ride on weekdays. As our Devon visit was mainly to attend a birthday celebration, we spent the remaining days in other locations, Ilfracombe and RHS Rosemoor gardens.
Barnstaple is an old market town with lots of places to eat and drink. It is the biggest town in North Devon and the main route through to either Exmoor, the beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe, and a good pit stop if heading for North Cornwall
The town centre is small but has a great selection of restaurants. We ate at Giovanni's Italian, which was great value. Quite a few little cobbled alleyways to explore. Trip only marred slightly by the number of seagulls swooping inches from our heads!
Pleasant market town on the River Taw. Ideal location for touring and cycling, and in close proximity to excellent beaches. Sadly the town centre has a number of empty shops but an interesting pannier market is a focal point for visitors.
Barnstaple is a typical Devon market town and is an ideal base from where you can explore the North Devon area. There are pleasant walks along the Taw or the chance to hire a bike and ride the Tarka Trail which is a flat former railway line which links Barnstaple to Braunton in one direction or to Bideford and beyond in the other. The beaches within 5-10 miles from the town (Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde, Instow) must be some of the best in the country or, if you prefer, the rugged beauty of Exmoor lies to the north.
The view from the main road belies what is inside this hotel as it is really nice. There is free car parking. The staff were helpful and efficient, didn't use the leisure facilities but they were being used by quite a few people. We thought the breakfast was over priced so did not eat there. It would be good if you could have wifi in your room. Getting to the hotel is easy as it is just off the main road although there are plenty of roadworks around Barnstaple at the moment but normally it is an easy run into town where there is plenty of parking.

Good countryside and quiet location and ideal base to access Barnstaple and Braunton. Host was pleasant but the detachment of the facility from the main home meant very little interaction that is normal with most B&Bs Good quality cooked breakfast, but as above felt it was only half delivered with self service of cereals in the room and make your own tea or coffee. Some upgrading and rethinking will make this value for money and a great place to stay

The bed was amazing, the biggest bed I've ever stayed in. The staff and owners were lovely and the food top notch. It is situated in the most idyllic surroundings. Perfect location and didn't have to face the crazy roadworks or busy Barnstaple. Wish I'd found this location before as it's local to my grandparents and better than any other accommodation in the area. Thank you 😉
