The hotel manager was extremely good. I was stuck in traffic and had to book in late and she was very good about it. I really appreciated that.

I visited for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The High Street is rather run down but the shops around the harbour were very pleasant. I had an evening meal at a little Italian restaurant opposite Weatherspoons and it was excellent. I loved the coastal path. Ilfracombe is very hilly so be prepared for some steep climbs!

Combe Martin is a village on coast about 5 miles from Ilfracombe but with good regular (and cheap) bus link. Coastline is rugged and very interesting - good walking country (coastal path 10 minutes from cottage). Ilfracombe has a harbour and beaches and the usual seaside facilities.

Illfracombe is a great place to visit with plenty to do.
Illfracombe is a great place to visit with plenty to do. It has some great restaurants, a museum, a theatre a decent highstreet to shop in and the beach tunnels are well worth a visit.
You also have lots of places around Illfracombe to visit such as Watermouth Castle, Mote Point, Combe Martin, Lynton and Lynmouth and much more.

The location looking over the harbour was lovely.
The location looking over the harbour was lovely. Not many places to eat around the harbour other than chips. Would have liked meat and vegetables. Bus service was very good and the walks were great. The cafe round the corner was an excellent start to the day.

Our accommodation was in perfect spot as walking distance to town/harbour and shops. Found an amazing Italian restaurant (Giovanni & Luca) with wonderful food, also went to Terrace Tapas & Wine Bar - again great food and great hosts. If the weather had been better we might have stayed longer. Nice array of shops with 2 supermarkets a bonus!

Ilfracombe has the potential to be a great seaside town, but...
Ilfracombe has the potential to be a great seaside town, but the building stock is not in great condition. We had an odd experience of not being able to get a proper meal for the entire 2 days we stayed here. Restaurant kitchens closed at 7:30 pm. Most places were serving nibbles only so we basically ate nibbles only for 2 days in Ilfracombe. The coastal path is great to walk, but the beaches are not very pretty and they all have crying children and loud, barking dogs on them.

Great location, very friendly efficient staff.
Breakfast choice superb. Bedroom comfy and very clean.
Foyer and dining room decor / colour way spot on for style of hotel. pleasing and elegant.
Stayed here couple of years ago in front bay window sea view room and great to see improvements/refurbishment underway.
Would be nice to see sheer voile hanging in dining room windows to obscure view of unsightly pipes and wall.
Piper and Terence made us feel very welcome and were very helpful in their knowledge of the local area. The hotel are bedroom are very spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The provision of robes in the room is a lovely touch. Breakfast is 5 star. Could not have asked for more.
Location was superb as we travelled by bus using the Exmoor Coaster from Watcher harbour to Lynmouth and then to Barnstaple and Ilfracombe returning on the Sunshine bus and Exmoor Coaster so the hotel was ideal for our purposes
charming hotel within walking distance of the delightful port of Ilfracombe. Friendly and helpful staff, they served us dinner even though we had not booked (and in the area this is honestly challenging)
Room was a decent size. The bed was comfortable and the breafast was great.. Location is good with parking provided, sitting on the main road and a short walk to the center and harbour.
