Loved it down by the harbour. Super car park just off main road by the public swimming pool. Nice walk down to the harbour, toilets and nice bars and restaurants. The main road running through Ilfracombe is quite tight, it's also a bus route. Must be difficult in busy times with caravans and motorhomes.
Ilfracombe is wonderful north Devon seaside town. The town itself boast many good restaurants and is one of the ports to board the MV Oldebberg to visit Lundy Island. Within the surrounding area there are several other coastal towns and attractions to visit too.
Ilfracombe is a typical Victorian holiday seaside destination; there are some areas that need to be updated however, if you are true seaside lover this is definitely a place worth a visit/stay. The local council are working hard to add lots of life and rejuvenating different areas. In the recent years there has been a lot of movement of new restaurants/shops/gallaries etc. Yet, it is the little hidden gems that make Ilfracombe so special. Look out for the terrace tapas and gin bar and restaurant, the little Italian restaurants. The scenery is stunning with the craggy rock faces at the end of the harbour and the small, slate shingle beaches!! If you do visit, Tunnels beaches is a must and there is a plethora of day trips from the harbour. Just over the cliffs the South West Coastal path takes you through to another hidden gem of a cove which is Hele Bay.
Relatively speaking, only a small town but with amazing Victorian architecture. Some lovely restaurants. If your staying there, make sure you have a car, so many beautiful places to see near by.
The Harbour is the best for visitors and to see the statue Verity was brilliant, pity it was to windy to go to Lundy Island. The town center is very poor for shops don't bother. Some nice cafe for a hot chocolate.
To be honest it was very early in season so not a lot was open, we had a not bad Italian meal, which was very busy. There seemed a lot of guys sitting around drinking cans at all time of the day, parking was a nightmare, I don't think I will be back here even in full season
Ilfracombe
Let's start with the breakfast. we travelled around the West country on this trip and this was without the best British Breakfast I had throughout the whole region. No contest. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. we are not dog owners but they are welcome at the hotel and I would imagine this makes a great place for people looking to bring their pets away with them. Ilfracombe itself had a nice old world feel to it, much less exploited some of the larger Seaside resorts we visited.
Ilfracombe
Our room had a sea view which was lovely and the room was a large size. Due to coronavirus the rooms weren't serviced every day, but we were told to ask if we ever needed anything, but we managed just fine. Breakfast was very nice and set us up for the day. The staff were very friendly too. The hotel is a short walk to the harbour, seafront, shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay here
You feel you’re at home as soon as you set your foot through the door and that is due to the welcoming and friendly professional staff. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. It’s also probably located in the nicest part of Ilfracombe with everything you would want to see or visit close by. We enjoyed our short stay and will be back. Thank you
Ilfracombe
This is a fabulous hotel located within spitting distance of all that Ilfracombe has to offer but really quiet. My room was small but perfectly formed with absolutely everything I needed for a very comfortable stay. The hosts were lovely and kindly made me an early breakfast so that I could catch the raceboat for the Lundy Island Half marathon.
