Originally built as a Drill Hall for the Orkney Artillery Volunteers in 1887, Tower Building's renovation was completed in 2017 and now houses 2 high-end 4* apartments – The Loom and The Lookout. The Loom comprises a master-bedroom ensuite, a twin bedroom, a shower-room/wc and an open plan kitchen/dining/living area which has large windows giving a bright and airy feel to the room. The Lookout comprises a master-bedroom ensuite and a second bedroom with a kingsize bed and it's own shower room/wc. To accommodate a 5th guest we can made up a double sofa bed with a proper double bed mattress in The Snug. The Snug provides the option of a 2nd sitting room and is fitted with a wall-mounted HD smart TV. The Lookout ideal for a family or two couples. Both apartments have a fridge-freezer, single oven with grill, double oven, microwave and dishwasher. The living area has a wall mounted 43" Samsung Flat Full HD Smart LED TV and Bose sound system. There is a separate laundry room for each apartment equipped with a sink & draining board, washing machine, tumble dryer and cast iron pulley. There is one private parking space per apartment at the rear of the building.
Either I or my husband, Lee, shall meet you on arrival and show you around the apartment. We very much enjoy meeting our guests and it gives you the opportunity to ask any questions about the accommodation and/or our islands in general.
Northlight Apartments is located in the historic heart of Kirkwall, within walking distance of the Cathedral, shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and the town's main leisure facility which has a cinema. Within a two minute walk of the apartments is the Co-op store, open late all week. Advance orders for meat/fish/local vegetables can be placed with the Brig Larder on Bridge Street, less than a 5 minute walk from Northlight Apartments. As well as Orkney having an enviable reputation for local produce, we also have an enviable number of local craft producers. The harbour front is just around the corner. The ferries to the north isles (Westray, Papa Westray, Stronsay, Sanday and Shapinsay) leave from the harbour. To cross to Hoy, you need to take the ferry from Houston, Orphir. Loganair provides the inter-island flights, including the world's shortest flight between Westray and Papa Westray. It is advisable to book your passage in advance. The Visit Scotland Kirkwall iCentre is less than 5 minutes walk from Northlight Apartments, housed in the Travel Centre on West Castle Street, KW15 1GU.
