The Mill in Long Melford is owned & managed by Paul & Clare. Situated within the grounds of a former working mill & overlooking the stately mansion of Melford Hall, The Mill provides the perfect place to stay in the centre of Long Melford! In 2019, The Mill featured twice in The Sunday Times travel magazine; being described as one of the most alluring B&B's in the UK and there has also coverage in The Guardian newspaper, recommending The Mill in their 'top 40 cosy hotels, B&B's & pubs for the winter' article (November 2019). The accommodation has been inspected and selected by Sawdays and is presented in Sawdays 'great British B&B guide'. The Mill has a achieved 5 TripAdvisor certificates of excellence! The Mill has just two, bespoke rooms which are located in a restored cottage, seperate to the main house of the owners. They are beautifully furnished and have private off road parking and their own individual entrances, offering both privacy and flexibility so guests can come and go with ease.
The Melford Room is open plan and spacious offering a real sense of space. It features a sumptuous, handmade, freestanding brass and nickel bath in the living area and beautiful hand polished cast iron radiators. There is a seperate en-suite bathroom and shower with luxury tiles. A small outdoor seating area offers a lovely vista toward the soaring spires of Melford Hall. The Garden Room is calm and relaxing, and has a charming garden for the exclusive use of its guests; a delight in the summer months! The garden is perfect for eating breakfast al fresco or cooking an evening barbeque. A wood burner is installed for the winter which makes for a very romantic stay. The spacious en-suite is complemented by a beautiful cast iron slipper bath and large walk in shower. Both rooms are very generous in size measuring apx 300ft2. and have large, wall mounted televisions. The rooms are on the ground floor, making them accessible, forming part of a Grade II listed cottage that used to serve the working mill in times gone by.
Completely renovated in 2018 and brought back to their former glory, the Grade II listed cottage and Hall Mill house can be found on Historic England's Heritage list. The location of The Mill is superb, with the high street and the nearest pub and restaurant less than a minutes' walk away. A couple of steps east from the main gate of The Mill brings guests to the square pond and moat of Melford Hall. For those wanting a more tranquil stay in Long Melford, The Mill is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the busy high street yet its position provides immediate access to all the village has to offer, just a few strides from The Mill.
