The Old Library is a modern, self-contained, two-double bedroom apartment in a listed building that has held the stories of Painswick, the “Queen of the Cotswolds” for nearly 200 years. It provides a perfect base to explore all that the Cotswolds can offer: a place for romantic walks, great views, relaxing, working, or visiting the many cultural and sporting events for which the area is famous. The sturdy oak door leads into a ground floor reception room, with plenty of space for muddy wellies or mountain bikes. Up the stairs to the main living areas; you will find a beautiful, vaulted reception room, with fully equipped kitchen, (including plenty of local takeaway and delivery options menus) dining area and lots of space to relax. There is a large screen TV, Playstation, Books, DVDs, Board Games. There are two spacious double bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms, the upstairs bedroom has a view over the quietest part of Painswick Churchyard, famous for its 99 Yew Trees, and the legend that the 100th will never grow. There will be tea and coffee making facilities, milk and sugar and locally-sourced biscuits to welcome you. Local stores are nearby. Please note, that this is a flat, while there is beautiful green space just footsteps away, The Old Library itself does not have a garden or a balcony.
We live just adding the corner, so should you need help, please feel free to contact us!
There is free parking in Stamages Lane Car Park, just yards from the front door. Painswick itself is a beautiful base for all the local area has to offer. The famous Cotswold Way runs through Painswick and is one of a number of beautiful walks nearby. You are less than 20 minutes by car from Cheltenham, Stroud and Gloucester, and within a short drive of Tetbury, Bibury, Westonbirt’s famous Arboretum, Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust and a myriad of other special places. Within an hour are the historic cities of Bath, Oxford and Bristol. Painswick itself is a charming Cotswold village, with a variety of pubs and restaurants, cafes and coffeehouses, all within a short walk of the front door.
