Northampton is one of England’s largest towns and has appeared in writing since the 10th century. The large medieval market square has an array of stalls 5 days a week, and nearby are the Market Walk and Grosvenor shopping centres. A larger retail and entertainment site is out of the town centre near Sixfields Stadium, home of Northampton Town FC. The Northampton Saints rugby union team play nearby, and Silverstone is south-west of the M1.
To the east is Billing Aquadrome, a marina complex with go karting, minigolf and a miniature railway. A smaller marina is along the River Nene in Becket’s Park, overlooked by 78 Derngate, a Grade II-listed house redesigned by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Other notable buildings are the Guildhall and colonnaded All Saints Church. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre dates to 1100 and is one of England’s largest round churches.
On the outskirts of town, by one of several golf courses, is Delapre Abbey, and to the north are other historic mansions of Coton Manor, Cottesbrooke Hall and the most famous of them all - Althorp House, the final resting place of Princess Diana.
The Northampton accommodation on Booking.com includes hotels with swimming pools, alongside apartment and guest house options near the train station and university.

Northampton is not everyone's idea of a tourist heritage attraction but it has a lot going for it -four historic churches, two chapels with connections to the 18th century revival, some excellent pubs and a magnificent Victorian town hall. It also has excellent public transport connections and in my various stays over the years I have visited Towcester and Nuneaton (during the recent trip) plus Kettering, Wellingborough, Earls Barton, Brixworth, Market Harborough, Kenilworth, Long Buckby and Rugby on previous visits

The surrounding areas were nice and I was at a conference at Delepre Abbey which is well worth a visit, the grounds are lovely and you can take your children for a run around or your dogs. Picnics in the summer would be lovely.

I formerly lived in Northampton and was staying over night to meet with family. As a town it has changed significantly from my child hood and whilst attractions in the town could be considered limited, there are interesting places to see and it acts a good based to visit other attractions in the surrounding area.

We used to live in Northampton some years back and the changes were a shock to the system. The volume of road works was staggering. More cones and detour’s then the M6 in the 80’s. The town center covered in chewing gum pats everywhere. Most of the big stores had closed down and large shop area closed off.
Absolutely fascinating location; 50s / art deco styling for this aerodrome hotel, with period music in the bar area.
Room itself was basic but clean. Bed perfectly comfortable.
Really cool little bar, open late with a good selection of drinks. Full cooked breakfast the next morning was fantastic.
I stayed in order to attend a business function in Northampton the following morning - the journey time into town was speedy, so the location was very convenient.
Very clean and smart hotel. Staff were very helpful and accommodation. Amazing value for money and swimming pool was great. Bed was really comfortable and was very quiet at night. Breakfast was the best I've had at a hotel before. The surroundings were beautiful and felt lovely. I was so shocked to how cheap this hotel was and the value for money. I would definitely return without a doubt! Thank you!
The hotel was modern and very well presented. The bedroom was quite large and very clean. The hotel is located on the Northampton University Campus and has secure car parking. The area is close to a park/riverside setting and within walking distance of the town centre. Breakfast was served in the Campus dining facility. The staff were very welcoming and the food standard was good.
The buildings related to the hotel have been fantastically restored, built in 1594 it has an amazing historical look, also being a listed building adds to its authenticity.
My room was a large double, and my bed was extremely comfortable, the duvet and pillows were perfect, the toiletries were good quality, and overall very good room facilities.
The apartment was clean, warm and comfortable. Security access to the apartment itself was excellent and the covered, secure car park was a welcome bonus. Several good take aways located within a few minutes walk. Northampton station and the town centre are about 10 minutes walk, so very convenient for travel, food and entertainment.
The apartment was clean and spacious.
Hosts were very accommodating and very easy to contact.
Wasn't directly in town which was nice as was quiet but was only a 5-10 min walk to the town centre which was nice :) however there are amenities close by if needed.
WiFi was really good!
Overall we really enjoyed our stay :)
Room was very comfortable and I was glad to have a mirror arrangement in the bathroom that made it easy to wet shave. the TV had a very good choice of programmes. hotel is a few minutes from the station and also close to a bus stop into the town centre (not itself a great distance, though.)
Chose this hotel for the easy train access from Milton Keynes and 24-hour reception, both of which were important to our party, as we were going to be traveling from a concert at MK Arena. Very welcoming staff and comfortable stay.
The location of the hotel free car park close to all the attractions in the town centre. Great price the building is over 100 years old and was a former coaching Inn the staff are very welcoming clean and tidy hotel .
A wonderful guest house situated just outside Northampton Town Centre. The facilities were great and included a large refrigerator, microwave, a superb shower and en-suite and an excellent double room.
Room nice and clean
Staff very friendly, a real credit to the hotel.
Staff nice even when we had to have the whole bed changed at the fault of our 2 year old.
Breakfast good.
Generally I liked the hotel with comfortable bed.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Convenient car park.
Very good breakfast with good quality and importantly hot full English.
Clean, comfortable and functional. Hotel was good value and the room to a good standard. Staff were very welcoming and gave me a lovely quiet room as requested.
I really love the hotel location because the facility is inside the campus where I can easily visit my daughter at the accommodation at the same compound.
