The quiet lane leads directly down to the fabulous North Dorset Trailway, just a 5 minute walk, which is largely made up of sections of the old Dorset & Somerset railway and extending up to 14 miles. It’s a safe and mostly flat surface making it ideal for running, walking and cycling. The Trailway offers some lovely views over the meandering river Stour, which is a haven for wildlife and the surrounding hills of the Blackmore Vale. The old railway station along the way at Shillingstone is a great stop off for a coffee and slice of cake or visit Fiddleford Manor and pop in for a drink at the Fiddleford Inn. The National Trust's Hambledon Hill, Dorset, is an Iron Age hill fort with far reaching views and spectacular wildflowers, just over 2 miles away from the cottage.
