A colorful and vibrant island, with beautiful shops and excellent restaurants. Like everywhere in Greece, the locals are friendly, and the atmosphere is wonderful. When booking the ferry, pay attention—there are two ports on the island: one is the main port, and the other is secondary. The main port brings you closer to the livelier, more touristy area. We had 3 days in Aegina, which was good for us. Sufficient time to see the whole island, however, if you are to a beach holiday you could easily spend a week, as the island and the town has much to offer, especially the beautiful water and the great restaurants. Aegina is a very easy boat trip from Piraeus with about 10 ferries daily. It is beloved by Athenian day trippers so the boats, the towns and the beaches can be extremely crowded. It still retains a lot of charm and is well worth a visit. However, once official summer begins with the Whit Bank Holiday weekend it would be necessary to book everything - ferries, restaurants, taxis - in advance. There is a very limited bus service so plan your visit around the timetables, otherwise you will be faced with long queues for very expensive taxis. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars but don't go expecting a bargain - meals and drinks are expensive enough unless you shop around. In Marathonas we recommend Stratigos (excellent value) and Ammos (wonderful daily specials).Guest review byTerry - 10.0

It was off season so it was not very busy.
It was off season so it was not very busy. The port is beautiful to walk around. The restaurants were very good and the shops were fun to look in, although much higher end then other islands. We were disappointed that there was only a ferry to Pireaus and Agistri. We were hoping to explore more islands in that area but could not. We rented a car and drove around the island and saw some of the sights. I am sure there is more to do in the high season. Compared to other islands we have visited this island was a bit run down and did not have as much character but it would be worth a day visit for sure!Guest review byKellyUnited States

It was in the heart of Aegina town and very close to all the amenities. It as close to the bank, bus station, beach, shops , supermarket. The property was as spacious and allowed room for luggage. There was a fully functional kitchen, large fridge and modern bathroom! We had a room with a magnificent view of the sea. The beach right at your doorstep along with restaurants and cafes. A few minutes walk to the busy town centre and the Ktel bus next door. Very convenient and easy way to get around the island. We visited some beaches, it stoped in front of Afaid and the monastery. Would definitely stay here again. Perfect location. I stayed here for two nights in januari and I had a wonderful stay. The room is quite spacious and has an authentic touch to it.
