The location was really good. It’s walking distance from the bus terminal; walking distance from the Sakurajima ferry terminal and walking distance from tenmonkan. During our stay we didn’t need to use any public transport as we walked everywhere. The hotel was very nice and cozy and while we were on vacation, it felt like this is more of a business hotel where it’s more for people who traveling on business.
We mistakenly booked a smoking room but it wasn’t that bad as we had the room on the top floor and we could open the windows if we wanted. Initially there was a little smell but after ventilating it, it got better.
The staff was really nice and friendly and while they didn’t have a buffet breakfast, we tried all 3 of their breakfast meals and we loved the Keihan meal the most and would highly recommend guests to opt for that when staying there.
Offering in-room flat-screen cable TVs and free wireless internet, クインテッサホテル鹿児島天文館 Relax & Sleep is just a minute’s walk from the Tenmonkan-dori Streetcar Line.

The stores and restaurants in the train station were good.
The stores and restaurants in the train station were good. There is the famous Kiriko cut glass factory and gift shop, Senganen Gardens and an excellent restaurant with a view of the volcano, Yamakataya department store, and the people in Kagoshima are very helpful and friendly. Every time I go to Japan I go to Kagoshima now. It also has hot springs. It is easy to catch the bus and tram cars that come often to get around.

We liked the nearby shops, the closeness to ferry and trainstation with Shinkansen accessibility. We found a lot of different style restaurants nearby.
In our experience was 1 Queen-bed too small for 2 european people.
The free space allowed us to only open 1 suitcase at a time.

Fascinating, lively city, interesting surroundings, very approachable people. Good food, too. Public transport is well-organised and affordable, and easy to navigate. Sakurajima's brooding, smoke-spewing presence provides the city with a unique atmosphere. I recommend the Kagoshima Brands store for souvenirs and omiyage (9-1 Meizanchō, Kagoshima). And don't miss Sengenan on any account!

Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard.
Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard. It make for a different kind of vibe. It is also a port city with many ferries, mostly going south to the little island atchepelago that ends in Okinawa. Warmer weather than most of Japan but still pretty chill in January. Nice people, I found them friendly. I like the place.

Sakurajima ,Senganen, Siroyama, Tenmonkan, and so on. Famous sight seeing spots, I recommend you. And local foods, such as satsumaage, black pig, karukanmanjyu, kibinago, you had better try them.

The rural areas of southern Kagoshima are very different from the rest of Japan, with not so huge mountains and very spacious land. It gives a very nice and different vibe seeing all those flat farmlands spread along the see, with a backdrop of volcanoes and hot springs. There are also some good hiking spots. Especially, Yakushima is a paradise for hikers with its deep, pristine and quite untouched forests and streams.
The location was more than ideal! It's connected directly to Kagoshima-chuo station and the bus terminal to the airport. Travelling to other places from there is very easy. The room itself is very comfortable with a rather fancy bath and lots of amenities. I could see Sakurajima from my room window and the lobby and it was beautiful! The staff will also store your luggage before and after your stay for free. There's also a ladies only room with vending machines and laundry facilities. You can collect a key from the staff to access it.
1. The location is near Kagoshima-chuo station and just 5min walk from the Shinkanbashi bus stop
2. The location is about 5mins walk to KFC and has a supermarket just next to it to get food and toiletries
3. The staff was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable
4. The check-in and check-out procedure is easy
5. Allows for payment at the location
6. The place is very clean and secure.
7. Even though a dormitory for 4 ladies, I was alone in the room for the night.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was convenient that a buffet dinner option was available for a fee within the hotel. The hotel restaurant also sold lovely cakes. The souvenir shop within the hotel sells some cute souvenirs. The 13th floor onsen and 12th floor lounge, both with a view of Sakurajima, were superb. It was very convenient to have the free hotel shuttle bus to Kagoshima-Chuo JR station. The hotel room's ambience music was very soothing.
Check in was fun! Loved the interaction with the anime receptionist all done digitally. We did have an issue (our fault typing a name in wrong) with checking in but someone was quick to help us sort it out. The room was a typical size that you would expect but very clean. The bus from the airport stop was only a 4 minute walk from the hotel. Loved all the amenities on offer.
Compared to Sheratons I've stayed in in other countries, this one is especially luxurious, with a large room and a big comfortable bed. The hotel onsen is very pleasant with an outside section (though no view because it faces a main road). There is a choice of restaurants - I ate at Satsumagma which was outstandingly good.
Hotel shuttle bus every 30 minutes. Takes you from and to train station with some extra places along the route you can get on/off.
Little city in itself. Bakery, convenience store, restaurants, Satsuma ceramics duty-free shop, etc.
Larger than normal Japanese hotel room size.
Great Japanese and western buffet breakfast.
The Gracias has apartments rather than rooms. There is a kitchen with a full size refrigerator, a microwave, and a two burner electric cooktop. It has a washing machine. Michiko was delightful. This is not a luxury hotel but the location cannot be beat. I’lll enclose a photo of the view from the sliding glass door.
Excellent location, essentially right outside Kagoshimachuo Station, with easy transport links to the rest of the city and very close to lots of food options. Room was compact as is expected in Japan, but very comfortable and well-equipped. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. I had a great stay here!
The room was large, with comfortable bedding and all the standard features of a room at this price. Everything was clean and well-arranged. It is located in the heart of Tenmonkan, a bustling shopping and bar area, right by an airport limousine bus stop and a good 15 minute walk to the port.
It was a really nice, clean room. In a busy part of Kagoshima. (We stayed there on a saturdaynight, but the noises didn't bother us) We enjoyed the walk in the neighborhood. The beds were great.
From the hotel we could easily walk to the ferry. (and to the Kagoshima city aquarium)
A convenient hotel located in central Kagoshima City. It is very close to tram stations that will take you to the tourist spots such as Mt Shiroyama, Shiroyama Observation Park, Sakurajima Ferry Terminal. Also its walking distance to famous black pork tonkatsu places.
-Big and clean room. It was also very clean in the common areas, ie in the kitchen, bathroom, toilet.
-Good location (5 minutes walk to the Kagoshima-Chuo station).
-There were few guests, so it was quiet and peaceful without any noise in the corridor.
Location was great for restaurants and sightseeing around Kagoshima. It's convenient location along a streetcar line made it easy to access from Kagoshima-chuo Station. Hotel is also near bus stop for the Kagoshima Airport Limousine, too.
Quiet, budget stay in Kagoshima. Located well in the city (close to a tram stop, airport limousine bus nearby, easy access to Sakurajima), Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean.
Excellent location and value! Short walk in covered shopping street from the train station to the hotel so you can avoid the rain. Clean room for a very low price.
Great location and a decent hotel. Rooms are small, very small but it was quiet. One washing machine and dryer near the sento was nice. Sento was very nice.
