Rivotorto Retreat House is a welcoming guest house, of the Conventual Franciscans, very suitable for a quiet, clean and home-feel stay. Very gentle and helpful staff. Every guest is our special guest and we try to satisfy all her/his needs or desires. The house does not have a 24hrs reception. The reception is open from Mon to Fri: 8.30-19.30/Sat-Sun and public holidays: 8.30-14.30. That is why we ask our gentle guests to specify their arrival time so we can guarantee the presence of someone to welcome them and avoid any disappointments. The house has a common area equipped with a fridge, hot water kettle and a microwave available for each guest, and all the necessary to make a cup of tea or coffee. All this is free of charge. Rivotorto Retreat House is 9Km away from the airport and 6Km from the capital city Valletta. We can provide airport pick-up with a private taxi at an extra cost. We can also provide tourist guide and transport upon request with an extra cost. Bus stops to all main locations is at a walking distance from our house. Guests can also enjoy quite a selection of restaurants and snack bars in the near neighborhood.
Rivotorto Retreat House is situated in a quiet residential area in Birkirkara, next to Saint Francis Church called Ta' Paris. Birkirkara is a town in the Central Region of Malta. It is the most populated town on the island, with 22,247 inhabitants as of March 2014. The city consists of four autonomous parishes: St Helen, St Joseph, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Mary. The city's motto is "In hoc signo vinces" and its coat of arms is a plain red cross, surmounted by a crown. There are many places of interest in Birkirkara, amongst them the Old Railway Station which is today located within a public garden. Trains were used as means of transportation across the island until the Railway's closure happened in 1931. Other town features include the Wignacourt Aqueduct built in the 17th Century, and St Helen's Basilica, housing Malta's largest church bell. Birkirkara's main religious feast is that of St Helen which is celebrated on 18 August if it falls on a Sunday, or on the first Sunday after that date. Another beautiful place to visit in Birkirkara is Sant'Anton Garden.
