FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the 'City of Sails' due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbour, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly offers a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sporting events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of the Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 192 metres!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city centre is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect accommodation for your holiday.

Auckland Central has changed a lot in recent years with vagrants hanging around on Queen Street. You don't feel safe in the city after dark. The Police and Council have increased patrols after the general election to regain control over the city so during the day the vibe is still good. Transport is still excellent, kudos to Auckland Transport for their trains and buses especially the Link buses.

Great Lots to do. Our 7 days were spent in Balmoral on Dominion Rd area. Lots of restaurants here so we ate at a different one every day for lunch and some dinners, We were there for the Chinese Moon Festival in Potters Park. Great food. We visited Pakuranga Night Market at 10pm Saturday night and it was packed. Great food here too. We went to Arataki Visitor Centre in Waitakere park. Beautiful. Nice ice cream shop there.

We took our 6 and half year old daughter to: - Rainbows end is at least a half day activity (we did it on friday so a school day which was fantastic as there weren't heaps people there, still enough people, but not enough that had to wait in lines long at all, so would reccomend doing it on school day), - Kelly Tarltons, (took 2.5 hours) - Butterfly Creek (at least a half day activity) - Auckland Zoo (half to full day activitiy) - Sculpturem (this is in matakana so 1 hour drive from auckland). was worth the drive. our daughter loves sculptures and art and this was perfect for her. took 1.5-2 hours to see everything. the restaurant there looked fabulous which we wish we had time to try but had to get to the airport. All locations were absolutely fantastic! Highly rate them all and would reccommend them all! Would reccommend anyone to get a rental car. Be too hard to get around otherwise.

The Naumi Auckland Airport Hotel is a wonderful oasis about 10 mins drive from the airport off the Kirkbride off-ramp. It is my favourite hotel near the airport for an overnight stay. Quality fixtures, fittings, decor and comfort creatures to make for a very enjoyable stay. Great staff, easy carparking outside and easy access to and from the airport. Room rates when booked in advance are very good value for money when comparing quality, comfort, amenities and location.

The unit was on level 14, had an outstanding view. Two bedrooms. There was a balcony to one bedroom and another balcony from the lounge area and also another enclosed balcony from the lounge area which had an out door table & 4 chairs. Underground secure car parking with lift access. Very close and easy walking to the Manukau Shopping Complex. Really easy to get to the Auckland Airport by car. We would certainly stay here again. Thank you.

I have used this hotel before as the price fits into my budget. I'm not a typical customer here as it is mostly for airport users, but it is nice and central. You can park your car outside the door, I really like this feature. The continental breakfast was ok. Comfy bed:)
