Bethlehem is a welcoming and safe city to travel !
Bethlehem is a welcoming and safe city to travel ! It has some local attractions such as the nativity church, mosaic centre, Pro Terra Sancta community centre, market, or just bars and restaurants. The great thing about Bethlehem is that through Palestinian shared taxi services which act like buses you can reach all West Bank sites such as Jericho or Ramallah.

Overall, except the Nativity and St.
Overall, except the Nativity and St. Catherine church, and the areas surroundings Bethlehem which require a taxi (Shepard's field, St. Sava and St. Theodor), there is not much to see there. I initially went by mistake to an area which is a refugee camp, called Aida Camp. This was not the safest experience for a solo woman traveller especially if coming at the evening, if taxi dropping you at different location (at the checkpoint), provided incorrect information by the guesthouse staff in terms of safety, staff not at the guesthouse location at the time of arrival and upset that you are upset that you had to wait two hours in cold weather, in the evening at the doorsteps of the guesthouse. At last, I felt extremely unsafe, especially after the reception staff whom I had to wait for two hours outside at the doorsteps was "sensitive" when I was telling him how upset I was. Scary experience... Please be mindful when you book the guesthouse... Unless you look for a refugee camp experience...

We felt very safe. Plan to return.
We felt very safe. Plan to return. We found in Manger Square the best deals on olive wood. The people were so nice. Some things are made in China and others not. Did not like the kids coming up to us during dinner with gum expecting us to give them money. The restaurants did not either.

I went to Bethlehem during Christmas time, I took a city...
I went to Bethlehem during Christmas time, I took a city tour with a private guide recommended by the staf/ owners of the guest house and he went out of the way to please me on food requests that I had and he was very knowledgeable of the history and the different sites we visited. I couldn't have asked for better weather. The only advice I have is to better travel in slow season, Bethlehem had a sea of tourists and sometimes very difficult to see the important sites.
But the best choice was the Herodium Guest House, owned and managed by a local family, I could have stayed one month with them, very warm, helpful and attentive to your needs! I'll do it again in a heart bit.

Bethlehem was very disappointing.
Bethlehem was very disappointing.
There literally are two historical / religious places, and an insane amount of shops.
After a few hours spent there, I was genuinely stressed out - the amount of taxi drivers stopping me was ridiculous, the amount of sales people stopping me was insane. What’s even worse, they really use people’s kindness and good heart for their own profit.
I would absolutely not come back, nor recommend it.

We visited the Church of Nativity. It has many tourists.
We visited the Church of Nativity. It has many tourists. We were not able to enter the birthplace of Jesus. But it was comforting to note that this is the birthplace of the Savior of the world. Around the manger square there are many restaurants. You can choose what you like to eat. Some of the roads are narrow. It is quite difficult to navigate because of the traffic. It is better tow walk from the hotel. But then climbing up is a challenge for some who are identified as senior citizens. However, it is memorable.
Location was excellent. Just 10 minutes walk to Church of Nativity and Bethlehem Peace Center. My room was very big with lovely balcony. The rates were extremely reasonable. The owners were very kind As a solo traveller I felt extremely safe in Bethlehem. I highly recommend House of Peace as a base in Bethlehem. Dani the owner offers the best guided tours, so educational. Included Refugee Camp, Banksy Hotel, The Separation Wall among others. He will customise a tour to suit. Amazing and educational. I would love to return.
Exceptional hospitality, whereby we were welcomed as guests. The hosts really follow their slogan "you arrive as a guest, you leave as family". The hosts were open and communicative, which brought us nearer to the family and their culture. Thanks to Vera for preparing very tasteful, healthy and varied breakfast and dinner meals! Location was convenient to see most Bethlehem highlights by walking! Thanks again to Vera, Elias and other family members for the great experience!
I can’t begin to express how unique this hotel is. They make you feel like it’s home. Plus, Banksy has his signature everywhere within the hotel. Every detail is magnificently thought out. The people in Palestine are so friendly. I was invited to four homes for dinner with their families. When I got home to the USA people would say , aren’t you afraid. Oh my word, there is no place I have visited around the world where I feel safer. Thank you Walled Off Hotel.
Excellent Room condition, staff was very helpful and friendly.
Our day guide Dana was very helpful and informative. Day was well spent with her in Bethlehem. She has taken us to Church of Nativity, Milk Grotto, and local shops.
Ede the owner was very friendly and helped to arrange our trips.
The staff of this hotel was full of kindness and showed me a great hospitality so that I had a wonderful time in Bethlehem. Especially, Afmad gave me a lot of advice of the trip and told me the lives in Palestine.
Of course, it was comfortable to stay in the room.
We hope to come back again!
Nice studio apartment with all the essentials, hot water, and good WiFi, right next to Manger Square and the most important sights in Bethlehem. Great communication with the host, who let me store my bag after checking out and insisted on giving me a bottle of water for the road.
The owner, Khader, made us really feel at home with his warm welcome. He was always available if we needed some advice or help.
The appartement is next to Manger sq. in the centre of Bethlehem, so it was for us a perfect choice. We gladly come back hopefully in the future.
The hotel is located in the heart of Bethlehem close to all major christian cites. Breakfast is amazing all organic home made items. Nabil, the host is always there to give you tips and recommendations. He goes out of his way to make your stay pleasant.
Clean, comfortable and centrally located hotel with lovely staff and superb restaurant! The food is exceptional and very reasonably priced. Everyone on staff was so warm, friendly and naturally hospitable. It's the best hotel option in Bethleham by far!
Every detail. Like you’re spending your time inside a huge art scene, discovering new details every second. Banksy is a genious, and staying in his hotel will make you consider for sure whats happening around Palestine. All the crew are excellent.
This apartment was very large and extremely well positioned for getting about Bethlehem. It afforded great views over the town and was extremely well appointed with all amenities including kitchen equipment etc.
The location is really excellent, and the room is a good low budget/hostel option in Bethlehem. They take cash for payment, which worked really well for us. Check-in and check-out was fast and efficient.
There is a beautiful energy in the hostel
Meeting Abu Zakaria the father of Salah was a memory I will take from Bethlehem, (a sage about how to live a happy life) thank you brother 💛🫶🙏
The location is perfect. Also the breakfast and dinner that you can add. The rooms are big, excellent views from my room of old Bethlehem. The nuns are really polite, you feel at home.
Excellent hotel and strongly recommended: friendly staff, great rooms, great location and incredible value for money. Staff went above and beyond to assist during my stay.
