Our stay at the guesthouse was absolutely delightful. From the exceptional hospitality of the hostess to the magnificent breakfast made from fresh local produce, particularly the homemade dishes by Fatima herself, every aspect exceeded our expectations. Our child even likened the experience to that of a five-star hotel, only much cozier. When we return to San Miguel, we will definitely choose to stay here again. Additionally, the location was charming, and easily accessible by car.

Fatima and staff were so outstanding in her hospitality. attention to every detail, including laundry service, daily room cleaning, free ample parking, and a fantastic breakfast, with every local item described. Bouquets of herbs in our room and comfortable bed. Fatima helped with our day to day plans and was very interesting during our chats about Portuguese history, culture and landscapes. this was her childhood home which was converted to a bnb with love. She generously offered the use of the kitchen and living room which was spotless. there were no restaurants within walking distance but ole the of good options down the hill in Povocao. don’t miss the beautiful waterfall on the way to town.

Fátima is such a wonderful host and makes you feel at home from the first minute you walk in the door. The breakfasts are delicious and abundant, and prepared every day by Fátima and Sandra who are passionate about sharing local products with their guests - everything on the table is in season and from the island (often from their own gardens!). The rooms are clean and comfortable and equipped with everything needed for your stay. At the end of the day when we returned to our room after a long day of hiking or exploring, we were greeted with the delightful scent of fresh herbs which were placed around the room. Casa da Cisaltina is in a great location for exploring the breathtaking east side of São Miguel. We can’t wait until we can come back and were sad to leave!

I have only wonderful things to say about my experience here. Such a beautiful apartment with wonderful staff, amazing owner, and a beautiful story. The apartment was beautifully set up and personalized for me. Fatima, the lovely owner checked me in. She mentioned she hopes I feel at home. This was one of my few travel stays, where I truly felt at home. I went to the local store, bought ingredients and I cooked in the evening, made some hot tea, and watched tv. It was lovely. The outdoor space is also beautiful. The apartment is located in a perfect location for the adventures on the eastern side of Sao Miguel. I can’t wait to be back. Book your stay here, no hesitation! We stayed 5-6 days at Fatima's place and it was lovely! The property is beautiful, the room was cozy, clean and has everything you need for a perfect stay. Fatima was a great host. She was so helpful and kind that it's easy to feel like at home at her hotel. A great example of the hospitality and kindness of Azorian people. 😊 The breakfast was awesome, very tasty, varied and with local products from the Azores. The place is not so far from many points of interest so location was certainly good for Sao Miguel's standards. There's also a parking in the property, which we really appreciated considering it's common to use a rental car. If we ever come back to Sao Miguel we wouldn't hesitate to stay once more at Casa da Cisaltina. Very recommended!
