The capital is pretty boring. They have no real beach as the full shore is a port. The closes great beach is Sao Roque. The only interesting attraction we found is the church and the botanical garden and the ananas fields.BalazsHungary - Scored 1010

Ponta Delgada, and São Miguel Island in general, are magical places. The city is rich in history, with a well-preserved historic center that's delightful to explore. There is a general feeling of safety and friendliness. Anyone visiting Ponta Delgada will likely tour the island, and it's truly worth it. By car, it's very easy to quickly get to know São Miguel. In fact, the island feels like a giant botanical garden, with stunning views and incredible cuisine, heavily influenced by the sea, where the freshness of the fish and seafood stands out. It is the city of Sao Miguel so it was busier than other parts of the island. However, you will find good choice of restaurants to eat from and souvenir shops. The island of Sao Miguel in general is quite beautiful. Ponta Delgada has a couple of nice squares and and along at Campo de Sao Francisco, it is nice. However, much of the main town is affected by beggars, both walking and on bikes. They are a constant presence, along with drunks lying sleeping on benches. It seemed such a pity.

I like nature walks, climbing, and scenery.
I like nature walks, climbing, and scenery. I ate local food; their seafood is delicious. I suggest visiting restaurants in Ponta Delgada as well. If I had known that their public transportation system is weak, I might not have gone on this trip alone. I recommend renting a car or motorcycle to easily access all the places.FatemehPortugal

Marcos and his wife made this an amazing experience. The house is wonderful, very unique and super clean (it already smells like wellness coming in) and right in the centre of Ponta Delgada. You can also rent out bikes and Marcos was so positive and helpful at all times and shared great recommendations with us. Thank you so much :)
