The stone 1873 Watermill (Azenha), which operated as a flour mill until the 1960's, has been very thoughtfully renovated, maintaining its historic character and its mill-works, but with all the present day comforts. The Quinta also includes fruit trees, a vegetable garden and chickens....the Fab 4 ; Ringo, Georgia, Paula & Joana give you fresh eggs everyday. The Studio is an annex with glass windows and doors, surrounded by garden, cork and oak trees, and a permanent stream running by the property. There are a huge selection of books to read and places to explore. Relax, Fall sleep and wake up to the sounds of unadulterated nature!!
Welcome to O Retiro da Azenha Velha .......The Old Watermill Retreat !! We, Deepa & Rossini, love this property, it's very historical identity and its completely tranquil location, all which we would love to share with you. Piazzolla, our loving Labrador, is ALWAYS available to make friends. The Fab 4 Chickens Ringo, Georgia, Paula and Joana are happy to give you fresh eggs everyday. Come here to relax.....and we will do all that we can to make sure you do !! We love travelling and are always very interested in meeting people, hearing your stories and about your experiences and making the world a smaller place. Beijinhos!!
Set in Central Portugal, east of Coimbra, in the countryside amongst Oak, Cork and fruit trees. It is serene, peaceful, isolated from traffic and noise and yet not far from the village of São Miguel de Poiares and Vila Nova de Poiares. This is the Region of Chanfana and Beirão (our local dish and liquor)!!! There are plenty of nature walks and bike trails around, including canoeing on the Mondego. Above all come here to relax, make friends and let go!!!
