Nice quiet island but very expensive compared to other places in Thailand. There's only a couple roads easy to explore the whole island in one day. Just make sure to bring a lot of bug spray the sand flies and mosquitoes eat humans all the time- thai or foreigner- best resort hands is seavana

Really nice and chill island, it's laid back and a great place for a break but you can also do activities such as snorkeling and diving. There's not loads to do but it's exactly what we were looking for, a little island paradise. Plenty of restaurants but not many bars. A day trip to Koh Kham is an absolute must! "The Ball Cafe" and "Pak Pak Vegan" are great cafés. Try "M.A. Bistro" for upmarket dinner or "Khun Mam's Kitchen" for an authentic Thai meal.

Seeking a Thai escape that strays from the clichés of overcrowded and overhyped islands? Koh Mak is an undiscovered gem waiting to be explored. This island emerges as a paradisiacal retreat where time appears to stand still, offering a perfect balance of relaxation, exploration, and reconnection with what's essential.
For three to four days, our family had the privilege of reveling in the tranquility and serenity that pervade Koh Mak. Each day brought its share of discoveries, from the whispering waves breaking on sandy shores to the verdant landscapes seemingly untouched by time or man.
Just an hour's boat ride from Koh Chang, Koh Mak stands as an invitation to all those looking to immerse themselves in an authentic and preserved Thailand. The crystal-clear waters, secluded beaches, and warm hospitality of the locals make this island a charming alternative to the more well-known Koh Kood.
In conclusion, our stay in Koh Mak was an enchanting interlude, a precious family memory where each shared moment will remain etched as an invitation to tranquility and natural beauty. For those in search of a unique experience in Thailand, Koh Mak is a stopover not to be missed.

Koh Mak , one of the few relaxed islands in Thailand, with relaxed i mean quiet, no nightlife, no disco noise, no harassment from people trying to sell you whatever.
Its the place to switch of and recover. There is plenty of relatively quiet places to find , especially in low season you can be alone at some beaches for hours.
Getting around is easy by motorcycle, the island is small and it is almost impossible to get lost. Good food is to be found in many locations, i can especially recommend Koh Mak Seafood,Sweet Cake, Table Tales and Food Art Hut.Or maybe you want to sit on a Bar on a pier a bit out in the sea? : Then check out Plue Pear Bar it is at Ao Pra Pier acessible trough Cococape Resort ( there might be an entrance fee for outside guests) Of course that is not everything there is, there is cheaper traditional places to be found as well as more expensive high end restaurants in the bigger resorts.
Snorkeling and Diving is also very nice at Koh Mak, you should be there at the right season for good visibility tough.
Makathanee was a great place to stay at Koh Mak. We came directly to the pier from Koh Chang, got into the spacious bungalow quickly and enjoyed our time here with an amazing view to the ocean. Close by shops, restaurants and massages (walking distance only minutes). Hotel booked a snorkeling trip for us with only 6 guests which was great. Also nice private beach, also to go for longer walks in both directions. However, a scooter rental is helpful to see also other areas of the island.
Easy walk to lots of local restaurants and right on the beach. Food and cocktails at Miss you is really good! We rented a golf cart (2 adults and 2 children) and it was a blast. Art house is great for breakfast. Koh Mak is a stunning island. Bring good quality insect repellent as there are sand flies. Dylan was amazing, super helpful and kind. The kids also loved the pool table. Thank you Dylan, we really enjoyed ourselves!
Really enjoyed our 5-day stay here and could have remained indefinitely. The pool and view is excellent, view from the rooms, very spacious, good air conditioning, warm water, able to rent a motorbike directly at the resort, and good breakfast with choices. The owner, Pepe, was present and enjoyed chatting with him. Rented a kayak down the road (at his partner’s resort) and had a great trip out to Koh Rayang.
I loved being on the quiet side of the island, easy enough to ride a bike to the action
Food was excellent for a vegetarian, sure the meat and seafood great too, but I would t know! Room was so well designed. Views amazing! Wish was a way to access the water for swimming, would be only thing would have liked to swim more easily
Just loved the room! Stayed all over Koh Mak and your place my fav room!
Really well finished accommodation, bed is among the comfiest I've slept in. Staff very friendly and helpful, booked ferry tickets to Koh Kood for us. Free transfer to and from the ferry which is a nice touch. Centrally located, 5 min walk to many restaurants and beach. Nicer beach at other side of island only 20 min walk - definitely worth it! Great aircon with good quiet mode setting for sleeping!
On the beach. Great pool. Gorgeous food and breakfast. Hired a golf buggy to explore the island. Very friendly staff. Nice touches such as a beach bag and a friendship band when we entered the hotel. Picked up from the ferry and return on time at the end of our stay. Free daily kayak for 2 hours. Just excellent. We loved it and will return.
the whole vibe! as if you entered a heaven of tranquility. It doesn’t do justice that they have low reviews. the staff is so helpful and friendly, pool and bungalows nice. and location, wow! the island is so small you can drive to any location in 10-15 minutes. it was a bliss staying here. also highly recommended the Thai massage!
This is an amazing spot on Koh Mak that is 200% worth visiting. We loved the atmosphere, style, beach site, restaurant, pool, cafe, and most of all, the staff. They were extremely nice and caring. And they even had a bar open at night, with yummy drinks. Make sure not to miss this lovely place when visiting Koh Mak!
Lazy Day is a tranquil hotel in a pretty beach. We had a beach front room which has its own comfy beach loungers on the balcony so you can sit/lay in comfort overlooking the sea. The staff are so lovely and really friendly and will help you with anything. We hired a scooter to travel round the island, great fun.
Super friendly host, she has a vision and a super good mood. She offere us dinner and created an athmosphere with other guests. Thank you so much for the warm welcome! If we come back Koh Mak we'll glady come back.
Best quality/price in Koh Mak. AC worked perfectly and was new and clean.
Lovely views from our villa of the sea. We loved the restaurant here! The coffee and food was absolutely delicious, with a huge menu. Super easy to rent a scooter and go around the island from here. Restaurant team were fantastic. Pickup/dropoff at port was perfect.
The staff were so sweet. The beach amazing. The hut with seaview amazing. There are a few other resorts nearby and a little supermarked at the resort next door. We loved the mosquitonet door, so you could sleep with open door and listen to the waves.
Amazing Beach.. it’s one of the best on the island.. spent 2 days searching other places but found this had everything we needed. Great food compared to some overpriced places on the island. Sup and kayak available which was a bonus.
For us the location was good, 'far' away from the 'commercial' part of Koh Mak. The food around this area seems to be better. The villa is spacious and has airco. Breakfast is ok.
Host was great. Very friendly and helpful in all matters. The location is picture perfect. A small island paradise. Great places to eat nearby.
I cannot praise the host enough:-)
Liked all aspects of the hotel, particularly the swimming pool. Good breakfast, with hot food cooked to order. Reception very helpful in booking onward travel.
Beautiful older resort at beachfront lots of privacy at bungalow
Beautiful beach in front
only negative could be careful for sand flies
I would return again
