Despite limited availability of full ocean view on Ooshima, Moana has one of the best views of Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji. The staff was exceptional with that special family feel that you cannot get at larger commercial establishments. Ooshima is one of the few gems left in the Kanto area where you can experience exclusivity in all activities. we had a great time fishing and doing a bit of mountain hiking on the back side of mount Mihara as suggested by the lodge owner.

The house is a jewel. The combination of old traditional Japanese house, a lot of wood work, the white separating walls and the surrounding nature allowed us to really calm down.

    Location was great. Close to port and town with easy access to buses, restaurants, and the local supermarket. Motomachi port is very close and convenient if your ferry arrives/ departs there; in our case, we arrived at the other port but the owner sent us his friend Natsumi to pick us up which was super nice and welcomed. As a bonus, she spoke English really well and gave us a lot of great information. The kitchen has some nice cookware such as a Balmuda tea kettle and toaster and there were plenty of cute dishes.

    The host prepared a delicious breakfast each morning. The breakfast included a salad, waffles, coffee and more. She also assisted me in exchanging my cash the atm did not work, and found my missing sunglasses. She’s let me rent her bike which I got plenty of enjoyment from. She provided me a lift back to Motomachi port when my start was over. The island was beautiful. If you come to Oshima , I definitely recommend visiting Fudeshima rock.
