This hotel is run by the kindest couple, and I’m still thinking about how good dinner and breakfast were. Some of the best meals of my trip! You can also order lunch for the trail. The onsen was wonderful after a long day hiking. Room was on the 3rd floor and very quiet, it was compact and simple, very clean, with everything you might need, including yukatas for dinner and towels for the onsen. Shared toilets and sinks in the hall were never busy; there are two communal showers inside the onsen. I asked about laundry and they took mine and washed it for me within a few hours! The bus stop to Shingu or Hongu was a one-minute walk from the hotel. Yunomine Onsen was such a unique town, I feel lucky to have stayed here and enjoyed such great hospitality!

Staff is super friendly, food was delicious and facilities are exactly what we needed. There is a restaurant nearby and outdoor onsens very close. Bring swimming suits.

Absolutely recommend this place, its a hidden gem of Kumano Kodo. I felt like home, wonderful breakfast and onsen that is private!

KUMANOYASAI BASE in Chikatsuyu is located in Tanabe, just a 5-minute walk from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art and 18 miles from Kamitonda Concert Hall.

Very authentic place. A super helpful and friendly host. I felt very welcome. The dinner option seemed a bit expensive for me initially, but it was definitely worth it! My stay here was a highlight of my trip.
