I really liked Beale Street.
I really liked Beale Street. Reminded me a bit of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, just smaller. Food was fabulous at several of the restaurants we visited. Had fun while visiting Beale Street. We chose to go during the daytime since the crowds weren't as bad and the prices on food were lower for lunch than dinner. You get the same food, just a bit cheaper :)

The road where the entertainment restaurants/bars are is closed to traffic. It's a very vibrant place, most bars have music; Country, Rock & Roll, Blues: nothing heavy just good free entertainment. Wednesday nights in Summer the street is full of motorbikes, an entertainment in itself.

Really wanted to try BB Kong’s restaurant but the wait time was to long. Walking around Beale street was great... ain’t no telling what you will see. The people are friendly. Talk to the folks in the bars, you get lots more local knowledge that way. BB Kings Bad is a must. There is an element of danger in Memphis, so long as you keep your wits about you & keep your valuables tucked away you’ll be fine, most people can’t help you enough
