Did not visited that one on this trip but had a private tour of the national academy of art with a wonderful guide,a tour of the Holocaust museum and closing night of the opera season at the Kennedy center what a weekend
We have visited countless museums and galleries over the years and this is in our top 3. An absolutely fascinating museum, we needed to return a second day to take it all in. We are a family with 2 boys aged 14 & 18, they both loved it too. I wish we had one in our country !!!!
We had heard great things about the Newseum & were excited to go. I had my 12 year old daughter, 3 sons 17 & 18 with me. The boys enjoyed it more than my daughter. She didn't know much about much of the features (Berlin Wall, terrorist attacks, etc) and was SUPER frustrated when she realized she couldn't do the virtual reality thing (must be 13). Additionally, the Pulitzer photos were extremely impressive and interesting to me, they were too dramatic and depressing (real) for her. So, it was a bust for my daughter & the boys liked it. I can see how kids 12 and under would be disinterested/disappointed. Hope this helps others.
Go early if you are keen to do the Virtual Reality experience. Do this first to avoid lines. Your ticket lasts 2 days which means you can come back to visit something you may have wanted more time with. There is a lot to do in this museum and we highly recommend it. The 60-minute highlight tour also worth doing at the start. We did this with all our family which included grandparents and our kids. Then had a coffee and headed out separate ways for 90 minutes to go back and explore the parts that interested us as individuals.
This is an amazing place to take your kid and especially any one who is technically inclined! Our son loved it and we enjoyed seeing the actual Berlin Wall and the Pulitzer Prize Photos. Worth the trip and cost to get in, plus you can use your ticket for the next day as well. Very neat place to see.
The Newseum is fabulous and worth more than a day's visit
