Traditional machiya converted to a Airbnb type lodging. Beautiful pocket gardens throughout the property, particularly the back garden in the “Umi” room. Total vintage vibes without sacrificing any comfort. Sento bags were provided for visiting the historic bathhouses within walking distance. Check in was a breeze at the restaurant next door, and staff was super sweet and friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Route Inn Kyoto Maizuru - Nishi Maizuru Ekimae! The breakfast was one of our favorite parts of the stay, with a great selection to start the day. The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free, and the free parking was a huge bonus, especially with such a spacious parking area. Our room was comfortable and had a table that was perfect for us to work remotely while traveling. We really appreciated having a practical and comfortable space to relax and get work done. The location was also convenient for exploring nearby tourist attractions.

We had the ocean view cabin and it was absolutely gorgeous and the wooden bench swing outside was so nice to read on in the evening. The cabin itself was very cozy and the surrounding area with all the animals and gardens was lovely.

This was an authentic Japanese style inn in the heart of Maizuru. It was beautifully finished inside with many touches of unique surprises (eg record players with 60s and 70s Japanese music). The beds were very comfortable.
