Liz, our hostess came out and greeted us at her gate when we arrived. She was delightful and went out of her way to make sure we had EVERYTHING we needed. The room was very clean and comfortable. She had apologized ahead of time about potential New Years fireworks and noise. We never heard a thing. The mattress was super! I normally sleep about 7 hours a night and I slept for 10 in that bed. There is a small kitchenette which is supplied with misc items for guests who want to be able to eat in their room. We had brought our own breakfast which we ate at a table by the swimming pool. So quiet and relaxing! The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The property is gated and we felt totally safe in her little garden paradise. We hope to come back again. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed how beautiful the house was and the property. Labrador is a cute little local town and it was super fun to stay there and experience life as a Tico/Costa Rican local. We especially loved our host, Natalie! She was incredibly nice and hospitable and made us feel at home. The amenities were very nice — comfortable outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy a drink or cup of coffee. Oh and breakfast was absolutely delicious! All fresh ingredients and delightful getting to talk with Natalie while enjoying our meal. I wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Wonderful two night stay. Hidden in the hills of San Mateo this is a lovely boutique hotel. The grounds are immaculate with a small pool and a cute playground for children. Our room was beautifully designed, well furnished with a small balcony to sit and enjoy the early morning or evening. The bathroom was large and included all the amenities of a top rated hotel. Breakfast was lovely and their morning coffee excellent. They have a restaurant but we did not eat there. Great location for a day trip to Jaco and the costal area or a stop on the way to La Fortuna. Enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful lodge with feeding stations for Scarlet Macaws and monkeys on the patio railings. A group of French photographers were there when we were there. Basic rooms. Delicious restaurant food at night. Great breakfast.

The views are extraordinary. So much so that we woke up to see the dawn over the mountains, something we almost never do. The cabin felt private and quiet enough to have a sense of solitude, with hummingbirds, iguanas, dragonflies, and butterflies framing the valley, mountain, and Pacific Ocean. At night, there's a line of leaf-cutter ants which was enthralling to me (but gave my wife the heebie jeebies) — if you want to photograph them, do it then as they do not appear during the day. The on-site restaurant was on par with the other food we had in Costa Rica, (the artisanal kombucha was quite nice), though it's the views and the ambience that are the highlight. Inside the room, the kitchenette was small but functional and the provided soaps and shampoos had a nice fragrance. The staff was wonderfully communicative from the get-go, helping us coordinate our transit to the hotel and staying in contact throughout our journey.
