This beautiful, old church has been lovingly restored by the local community. Outside it’s a stone church, built in the late 1800’s. The roof looks like tile (though it’s solar panels). The stained glass windows are amazing and the church yard manicured. Inside, they’ve saved as much of the floor and artwork as possible, but upgraded to a comfortable hostel/hotel. The kitchen is very well appointed but if you don’t feel like cooking, try the George and Dragon Pub down the road (also saved by the community).

Just a 4-minute walk from Richmond Castle and 400 yards from English Heritage, The Frenchgate Bed and Breakfast features accommodations in Richmond, with a garden.

Loved the close proximity to the Castle. Very easy walking distance. This is a very old building (i.e. 1600’s). There was a lovely little garden in the back and plenty of space to park. The owner is a very knowledgeable and helpful local who gave us dining suggestions and helped us figure out where everything was.
