Enchanting beach stay. Second time I've stayed in this cozy Pacific bungalow, and the staff and owners make you feel like your enjoyment and leisure is the most important thing. There are local dogs and cats that are friendly and adorable. Highly recommend for a relaxing visit to las penitas.

This place was an amazing location to stay at. Its located at the perfect area ON the beach with great views. The beach in by the house is ideal for surfers and swimmers. The hosts were amazing and always very helpful. The host gave us access to their boogie boards for free. The host runs a surf school/rental place and they do a great job teaching new surfers how to surf. Its easy to get to Leon and the local volcanos from this town. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby. The town is very safe and quiet. The breeze from the ocean keeps things cooler in the house than outside. We had a safe place to park our car. Inside the facilities were clean and they provided fresh water and fans in the bedroom. Skip the big tourist towns and enjoy this beautiful and calm place.

From the moment you arrive at Jake's you are not only greeted by a friendly staff. But by Jake himself ....The most beautiful Mastiff dog and gentle giant with a calm demeanor !! Yes~ The owner " Darren" named the hotel after his dog Jake ! I can say that the cleanliness of the hotel is excellent. I was very impressed by how clean the rooms were. Our room was very comfortable and the AC made it feel even better. The hotel provides a very relaxing and comfortable setting for its guests. Darren has really set up an oasis from the beautiful landscape, outside lights, sun beds, beach chairs hammocks and courtyard pool. The staff members made a great impression on us their friendly and attentive service is top notch. Thank you Ana, Francisco, Matias and Valentina for making us feel welcome and special. Y'all are awesome. Location Location Location Jake's on the beach is located on the main street of the town of Las Peñitas. Within walking distance from restaurants and bars. The hotel sits directly on the beach of the Nicaraguan Pacific Ocean. I assure you that you will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at Jake's whenever you're in town."

This rating requires some context. I agree with other reviewers saying the facility has been neglected over a long time. Had my wife been traveling with me, she would’ve had a good bit to say about that- not favorable. But she’s not here. For a solo traveler here for the surf, this place is fantastic. My room was large (admittedly dilapidated). They have security cameras all over the general area, this place is really safe and secure. My door was 5 steps from the sand and the break was straight out from the hotel. They serve food which I found adequate and very reasonably priced. They were very friendly and accommodating. For my preference (location and proximity to surf over any desire for luxury) this place is an undiscovered gold mine. If price is a concern, you are unlikely to find a beach front accommodation anywhere near this price in your lifetime. Pick your priority.
