Humahuaca is a small town on the route between Salta and Bolivia. I took a bus there and it was a comfortable 4.5 hour ride, with the last two through the spectacular Quebrada de Humahuaca. Here's a tip: the best scenery is on the west side of the road. The town itself is small, but does cater to tourists, with vendors and stores selling various local crafts like blankets and pottery. The town square has a lovely church, and steep steps take you up to an impressive Monumento de la Indepencia which looms over the town. The town is at about 3000 meters above sea level, though, so take it slowly. It's possible to come here on a day trip from Salta or Jujuy, or it can be done as an overnight.

Purmamarca é uma cidade agradável para ficar um ou dois dias, talvez até mais, dependendo da forma de programar a viagem. É comum que pessoas vindo de Salta e fazendo excursão a Salinas Grandes, ao invés de voltarem a Salta, fiquem em Purmamarca para depois seguirem viagem ao norte, explorando a província de Jujuy. Há várias opções de horário de ônibus da cidade de Salta para Purmamarca e de Purmamarca para outras cidades ao norte, como Tílcara, Humahuaca, que são cidades comumente utilizadas como base para conhecer o norte da Argentina. Em Purmamarca há peñas (restaurantes/bares que tocam música típica) muito animadas, artesanato andino para comprar, cerros coloridos para admirar e fazer trilhas. A população da cidade é amável e trata-se de um local aparentemente muito seguro. Sugiro atentar para as seguintes questões, que na verdade valem para toda a província de Jujuy, não apenas Purmamarca: os Sinais de Wi-Fi disponíveis são fracos e poucos lugares aceitam cartão - melhor andar com dinheiro vivo.

However, I met with the hostess and her friend so they could make up for that. Luckily, they were both really helpful and kind. I missed my bus to Hornocal and they took me there. They made my stay in Jujuy very memorable and I am thankful for that! I can gladly recommend the hostess!

This eco hotel leaves up to its name from the design of the property and how it is run. Love that the property was built to fit in with the beautiful surrounding and definitely maintained with nature in mind. Very rejuvenation place to be with 360 views of the mountains, super quite while only a few blocks from all the activities in the center of town. The restaurant is amazing and the food was delicious with good vegan and vegetarian options. The staff is super helpful and service was amazing. Would definitely recommend and stay there again
