Come here if you wish to see the colored mountains of pumamarca, or the hot springs. Jujuy is where the bolivian touch starts and the leaving point from Argentina to head up north to bolivia. Jujuy is where you see the real side of interior de Argentina. Simple and humble people, street side nice and cheap orange juice, relax in nature

Historically region superb scenery mane sure to go to Zorba restaurant in Humahuaca We used a Jujuy travel co who booked a four wheel drive and driver for four of us. Far better than tour bus. We could stay stop whenever we wanted. Cost was $7200 pesos cash or $8000 pesos by card. was well worth it. Check out them on Facebook. Paisajes del Nordeste. Antonio Ahuali was our driver. You can do many things in and around San Salvador de Jujuy.
You can do many things in and around San Salvador de Jujuy. The mountains are very near and there is a mountain pass on a height of 4170m. Besides that you can visit the "Salinas Grandes" (a huge dried Salt Lake) and see the so-called mountains of seven colors, which look amazing. Because the streets are very zigzagging, the drive takes a lot of time, so you should consider that.

Definitely not a town for travelers or tourists. It’s a good sized city with not a lot to see or do. It’s a good jumping off point for visiting other parts of the province. It does have a few historical buildings that are worthwhile visiting if you are spending time in the town.

We used San Salvador de Jujuy as a base for visiting Tilcara...
We used San Salvador de Jujuy as a base for visiting Tilcara, Purnamarca and Humahuaca and it was a rather long but interesting drive to visit those places. In April the road was quite foggy most mornings and evenings and the drive took an hour or more. We drove ointo Jujuy a couple of times but the traffic was heavy and we were glad we were staying out of town.
