The room was very spacious, nicely decorated with attention to detail (fire stove, night lights everywhere etc.), the bed was big, the wc were separated and far from the bathroom and bed, giving some privacy. The spa was offering a wide range of "activities", it was clean and relatively quiet although busy. The staff was very kind and accomodating.

    Cannot gush enough about this place!! It was fabulous! From the large rooms, to the calm view from our windows (request the back of the building). The breakfast was DELICIOUS and I wish I had asked to buy some of the gluten free rolls to bring home with me. The spa is very close and people in our party used it every day! (sometimes more than once). So many wonderful walks can be taken in the area too. Cristian, who was a man of all trades, was WONDERFUL! He got us taxis, made delicious breakfasts, was always friendly and accommodating. He even, very kindly, opened up the breakfast room early before our daughter and son-in-law had to leave.

    Wow, this place was absolutely fantastic. Although the rooms were not in the castle building (surrounded by fruit trees) they were still all that you could expect or more. Comfortable beds and quiet room. Breakfast was standard and omelet was served at the table. In the evening we had a few drinks in the restaurant. You could also have your meals outdoors in a garden if preferred. The extraordinary thing about this place however is the spa. At half price for residents there were a number of saunas and pools available. The outdoors jacuzzi during a late evening in light rain was super. Perfect secluded place to go for a couple.

    Such a great city that shouldn't be overlooked when planning your visit to Belgium. Has such a nice college city vibe to it that was a nice alternative to the very touristy vibes of Bruges and Brussels.

    Our stay was disappointing due to poor cleanliness, inadequate amenities, and understaffing, with malfunctioning air conditioning and privacy breaches. Its inconvenient location led to frequent transportation issues, and unhelpful staff showed little concern despite complaints. Overall, the experience was far from comfortable or restful, and we do not recommend this hotel.

    Vilvoorde is a beautiful city.

    Vilvoorde is a beautiful city. I love to go for walks and just about walked everywhere. There are many parks, rivers, creeks, a canal, and many paths to walk on. Vilvoorde has done a magnificent job at keeping the area very green and walkable.

    Room was stinking with some horrible smell &there was not enough tea or coffee in the tray. In bathroom there was no hand soap. I reported to the receptionist he gave another room but that was not done looked like someone was there as the bed was not done(clean) properly so I had to return the key and stay in the same room.

    Diest is really understated.

    Diest is really understated. There are some lovely historic parts of the town to explore, the Grand Place has some very good restaurants and it's surrounded by beautiful countryside. It's a very calm, peaceful place to visit. Our favourite restaurant was Nicky's Catwalk in the Grand Place.

    It was central to all that we wanted to see and do. Having a car is important, it makes getting around easier. We did take a hop on hop off bus, as we do in most cities so that it will help us to know more of the history as well saving us a lot of walking. At our ages 77 & 72 walking all day isn't easy. In one day in Bruges, we visited the Grote Markt (Market Square) where we ate lunch, where my husband wanted to try climbing the Belfry tower [366 stairs]but the tickets were sold out and we explored Burg Square and its landmarks. Wish we had taken a canal cruise. For fun we visited the Bruges museum in virtual reality. We ate at several restaurants and found the food very good. For us the Thai restaurant was the best.

    The medieval buildings were beautiful and everywhere was so clean. There were lots of restaurants with excellent food and good service. It was easy to get around walking and with our hired car. We also visited Waterloo battlefield and museum south of Brussels which was very interesting. The whole trip was excellent.

    It is what it is - out in the middle of nearly nowhere.

    It is what it is - out in the middle of nearly nowhere. Just a base to get your head down, 30 minute taxi into Brussels city centre. Wasn't overly impressed with Brussles to be honest. Long ques at immigration being that we left the EU. The flight was an hour and it took 1 hr 15 minutes to clear customs.

    Zaventem is close to the airport - our main reason for...

    Zaventem is close to the airport - our main reason for choosing this town. It is an easy journey by train into Brussels central which I would recommend because traffic and parking is difficult. We had a 50% weekend pass so the return trip for both of us was Euros 10.
