The historic centre is very compact and can be easily traversed on foot and yet there is so much to see whether it be row after row of beautifully restored and maintained buildings or the immense and imposing churches charting the centuries of history of this important and fascinating town. I should say that the old town provides wonderful eateries and bars that cater for all tastes and budgets.Guest review byTimothyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We didn't know much about the East/West German divide so we were nervous about visiting Rostock. However, it was a pleasant, clean, safe town. We walked everywhere. There were nice parks, a wonderful museum and the St Mary's cathedral (first mentioned in 1232) had an astronomical clock that was a feat of engineering and upon striking 12 noon a procession of small wooden figures rotated around the top. We were impressed with the history of the place. The museum had a display about WWII and it was only in German, however we were able to scan large paragraphs of the display to the phone and download a German translation pack to be able to read it. We ate in several little establishments. We always got correct change back from our bills, unlike other places in Europe where you have to be really cautious with your money. I even tried the local Rostock beer!Guest review byHollyUnited States - 8.0

On a wet Sunday morning in Kiel, the maritime museum on the harbourside was a welcome find. A survey of the city's history from fishing to 19th century yachting regattas, and of course the Naval heritage. Good English translations . Friendly staff.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The town is very beautiful - nature, architecture, the beach. It's just exceptional, so many places to enjoy! Restaurants are very expensive and the food is either mediocre or really bad. If you really like good food, I'd recommend purchasing products in supermarket and cook at home. Little fish shops with smoked fish is the best food this place has to offer in my opinion.Guest review byAnastasiiaGermany - 10.0
Flensburg is a hidden gem, especially for Americans.
Flensburg is a hidden gem, especially for Americans. We were told many times that they don't see many Americans in Flensburg, and for us we liked that. The people are very friendly and welcoming. We love the German and minority Danish populations. The shop owners and people we met were always friendly.Guest review byJon - 10.0

Great trip to Warnemunde. We enjoyed cycling, swimming, beach and great local food. Perfect family trip from our base at Aja hotel. Karl’s Edbeerhof theme park was a fun day trip for the kids. Nice strawberries, funfair and shopping.Guest review byAliceUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Charming and relaxing beach destination within easy reach of Hamburg. The weather happened to be nice during my stay, but it looks like it would still be an enjoyable destination if the weather wasn’t so sunny or warm. Local people were friendly and welcoming, and I learned interesting things about the region. There are a variety of places to eat, catering to higher end fine dining as well as more humble restaurants. I had a beautiful meal on the deck at Restaurant Rendezvous, as well as a delicious casual meal from the little takeaway huts along the marina. Cafe Ahoi coffee is a decent coffee option, and the bakery Bäckerei Seßelberg Niendorfwas also very good. Gift shop Snabbelsnuut was great with unique and affordable good quality items locally sourced with friendly helpful service, and Lambert Studio has a great selection of lovely homewares, with friendly and knowledgeable customer service.Guest review byCeciliaGermany - 8.0
Stralsund is a nice place for healing.
Stralsund is a nice place for healing. If you need a place to calm your mind, Stralsund is a great place. It's also easy to find shops, restaurants and bakeries around the old town. There is no worry about finding our necessities. Stralsund also has many traditional restaurants and their speciality in fish cuisine. You can also take a trip by ferry. It's a nice experience. As well as visit the island nearby, Rügen, especially the national park, it would be a really great experience. Even without going far from Stralsund, you still can have nice experiences, such as visiting Oceaneum, Stralsund Zoo, Gorch Fock, and museums in Stralsund.Guest review byGraciaGermany - 10.0

One more comment about the Altstadt apartment: check-in is not allowed until 4p.m. And you don't find that out til after you have paid. We had to while away an hour in a coffee shop, surrounded by our suitcases, as we had already arranged to arrive about 3, which has been the latest check-in time everywhere we've stayed before.Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0
I lived in Lübeck for five years.
I lived in Lübeck for five years. It's the most beautiful city I've ever been to, with lots of cute hidden alleyways scattered across the old city. The ancient history is palpable. Its proximity to Hamburg and the Baltic Sea are very attractive. The city boasts great restaurants and cozy cafes with friendly staff, and public transportation is reliable, with cycling as a good option.Guest review byAnonymous
