The situation is incredible, at the heart of the citadelle of Erfurt, with fantastic view at a 2 minutes walf and a public glass lift that brings you downtown in less than 15 minutes. It is very easy to reach by car and there is a parking (with reservation) in front of the building. It is an old building that has been completely refurbished in a very beautiful manner. The chamber was very very comfortable and beautiful, very cosy. The personnel at the reception was nice and helpful. If we could we would have stayed longer !

This place is only for children and everyone is friendly. It's like paradise :) There are so many things that kids can do.

The hotel has a "vintage look" so to speak, but it's nevertheless really nice. Located in a lovely village, the staff is friendly and the hotel offer lots to do. I booked a massage and also visited the cinema.
The breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious.

The room was spacious and clean. The hotel offers a good breakfast with a variety of food to choose from. The pool and sauna area is included in the booking, and provides for a very relaxing break. There is an EV charger available at the hotel parking.

Room was spacious and well equipped, bathroom very clean. The mattress was a little hard for me, but some people prefer that. The heating was great as it was very cold outside when we went there. We used the pool, which was clean and quiet.

Excellent pool, sauna area, and choice of saunas. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff were always very pleasant. We will definitely come back, but probably mid-week for a better price deal and a quieter time with fewer people.

I recently visited Erfurt from September 8 to 10 to celebrate my birthday, and I completely fell in love with the city. It is stunningly beautiful, with so much charm, history, and a warm atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
For my birthday dinner, we went to an Indian restaurant in the city, and it turned out to be the icing on the cake! The food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavors, but what touched my heart the most was the staff. They went out of their way to surprise me with a birthday cupcake and a candle so I could make a wish.
From the gorgeous city streets and breathtaking views to the incredible hospitality everywhere we went, my birthday trip to Erfurt was truly magical and will hold a special place in my heart forever. I cannot wait to return!

Weimar is a small town with a rich history.
Weimar is a small town with a rich history. With an interest in literature and/or Bauhaus, it is definitely worth a 2-3 day visit. All sights are in walkable distance from each other. Typical highlights include Bauhaus Museum, Goethe Museum and Anna Amalia Library. A real discovery is the Museum Neues Weimar which is modern and welcoming and gives a great overview of Weimar's role for the Bauhaus and new design and architecture. With a little extra time you can spend some time in bookbinding!
Try traditional Thuringia food like Bratwurst, "Klöße" dumplings, Rouladen - with local beer or white wine.
The people - in museums, hotel, restaurants, shops - were exceptionally friendly.
Visit some museums, wander about, go to the market and take a walk through Park an der Ilm with Goethe's Garden House.

A charming town packed with incredible history and nature!Eisenach is a hidden gem for history, music, and nature lovers. The town is highly walkable, making it incredibly easy to explore everything on foot. Visiting the Bach House and the Luther House feels like stepping back in time. Of course, the absolute highlight is the stunning Wartburg Castle overlooking the city, which offers breathtaking views. For nature enthusiasts, a hike through the mystical Dragon Gorge (Drachenschlucht), with its narrow moss-covered rock paths, is an unforgettable adventure. Food tip: You absolutely must try the perfect burgers at babi's DELI!!! They were delicious and a total highlight of the trip! It is a clean, peaceful, and beautiful destination that I highly recommend!

This is my second visit to the beautiful city Jena of Germany. I wish to come again and spend beautiful time again here. Very quiet, calm, relaxing, worth exploring the different sites and locations, weather, multiple grocery shop, fresh fruits like cherries, strawberries were simply amazing.

Ilmenau is ideally located for hiking in the Thuringia forest. I stayed for 11 days, but would have liked to stay twice as long and still wouldn't have done all the hikes I'd earmarked. Do note that some trails can be quite steep.

Oberhof is a lovely town in Thuringia, Germany, that caters well to tourists of all ages, with plenty to do throughout the year. It is best known as a winter destination, but we visited in summer and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
For us, it was the perfect weekend recharge for two. We spent some time exploring the town and had an enjoyable lunch at Ánh Kim Asia Küche on our first day. Afterwards, we made the most of the facilities at the Schlossberghotel Oberhof, relaxing in the pool and sauna, having a drink at the bar, and enjoying a very nice dinner in the hotel restaurant, followed by breakfast the next morning.
We then went for a hike around the Ohratalsperre, parking at and starting and finishing our walk from Gasthaus Zur Wegscheide. You can also enjoy a good traditional Landgasthof meal there after your hike.
The Thuringian forests are beautiful, and Oberhof is a wonderful place for a relaxing and active weekend away.

I remained in Old Town since I was researching my...
I remained in Old Town since I was researching my grandfather's story and needed access to archives, the library, Palace and other historical locations and resources.
There is so much rich history here and many of the buildings have plaques on them with historical details about the building. There was a decent variety and number of restaurants to choose from in Old Town, it felt very safe and people were very friendly.

Altenburg is a beautiful and unspoiled 'Residenz' town in Thuringia, with many buildings beautifully restored, others needing a lot of renovation/restoration. There was no war and no bombing in this part of Germany, so the town is essentially unspoiled, but needing investment and attention. The town is organized around the Palace, which is at the highest point overlooking the town. The Theater Cafe, across from the renovated theater, has excellent food, very friendly staff, and great value for money. Altogether, Altenburg represents great value for money.

Located in a valley, the city offers beautiful views to the surrounding mountains and is a good starting point to explore them. It is worth it to climb the Domberg, which overshadows the city until the Ottilienchapel, which offers a nice view over the city or even to the top that has a tower with a panoramic view of South Thuringia.
The city itself is rather quiet and mostly elder people are to see. The downtown has some decent restaurant options, like the Greek restaurant Delphi or the fish restaurant "Gastmahl des Meeres".
Via the nearby highway it is easy to explore nearby attractions.

Muehlhausen has one of the most beautiful and original old towns in Germany. Full of history dating back to the middle ages, the reformation and peasants war area and even further. Unfortunately it's still underrated and not as often visited as similar towns.
