My room was huge with period furniture and decorations set the the tower portion of the manor. Its set back from the road surrounded by vines and fields making the whole experience one of going back in time. The breakfast room was a spacious salon of the manor too. Our host spoke excellent english. Go while you can, my feeling was that the current staff of three was rather overworked and the property may be being sold

We stumbled across this lovely hotel over the Easter break. The young team are exceptional, friendly, helpful and clearly love their jobs. The rooms were well equipped and clean. We went half board and the food was delicious and well constructed, actually some of the best food we have ever had. We will be booking again - the photos don’t do it justice.

Bergerac is beautiful.

Bergerac is beautiful. Fairy tale old town on the Dordogne River. Very walkable. Lots of amazing restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. It doesn't feel like a tourist trap. Very relaxed atmosphere. Be mindful that most shops are shut on Sunday and Monday but Issigeac Market on Sunday is well worth a visit. It's a charming town and feels authentically French. Just a 20 minute drive from Bergerac (we used Uber).

Eymet is a lovely little village with a great mix of locals and ex-pats. The village square is beautiful, with a varied choise of resturaunts/bars and shops. We highly recommed Eymet for a short stay/weekend break. The only 'slight' negative, was 'none' of the resturaunts/bars served 'food' between 14 00 to18 00 hours.

The location is in a small French provincial village.

The location is in a small French provincial village. The "Gite"itself is fantastic and the owner Tamara speaks perfect English. The facilities are very, very good and the breakfast provided is also very nice. There is no nightlife if that is what you are after, the bigger village Bergerac is about 29 kilometres away. The "Gite" is a 15th Century former convent and it is fantastic. You would need your own transport to get to and from the location and to get around the district. Castillonnes is another larger village about five kilometres away with some great restaurants as well.

Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is a very interesting old town, quite sleepy and not many restaurants and bars. No night life. Big Saturday market. Very convenient for travelling to Bergerac or Bordeaux by car - and there is a train station. Also very close to many vineyards which are open for visits and wine tasting. Lovely region and very easy to find your way around. Close to Bergerac airport, which was also quick and easy, as it is small - took no time to pick up our hire car.

We liked the location, it was extremely quiet. A beautiful private pool and not far from some great restaurants, and a great golf course nearby. Full of vineyards and local sightseeing spots - a truly rustic experience for those wishing to experience France at it's best. Excellent connections to local visiting hotspots, but with the peace of a small village. Worth noting - you'll have to travel a little way out for food, at least a 15 minute drive.

.Bergerac is a lovely place I enjoyed my flat bottom boat outing on the Dordogne well worth a pleasant hour for 12.5 Euros. I enjoyed nice walks especially around the old parts and there are nice restaurants around I found 1896 with Lionel a real treat going back in time for a delicious meal amongst his family photos and a real genuine nice guy and excellent food.

Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout.

Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout. Nice restaurants and small shops. Has two small supermarkets for provisions a butcher and veg shop wine and local delicacies. Market Thursday. Lovely local people. Would recommend privilege restaurant to eat offering local food to a high standard in a typically French setting. Nice walks from village for those who like walking or running. Good base for seeing the dordogne area by car. Historic market square nice to have a drink in in season. You can buy a map at the Monparzier tourist centre in the square showing walks which are marked by coloured markers. Two bakeries for daily croissants bread and lovely cakes and sandwiches. Local filling station just out of top end of villages on Road to Bergerac.
