YHA Brecon Beacons was a lovely base for our hiking trip.
YHA Brecon Beacons was a lovely base for our hiking trip. The location is peaceful and close to major trails, with clean rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and helpful trail maps at reception. Both our pod and shared room were cosy with essentials like heating and plug points. The pricing was very reasonable for the comfort offered. The only issue was the strict 5–10 PM check-in window. Overall, a great and affordable stay!Guest review byAnkana MukherjeeIndia - 8.0

Rhayader is a lovely town but there is nothing much there anymore. It is the gateway town to Elan Valley, which is absolutely awesome...... the scenery and the walks are stunning. Couple of nice places to eat in Rhayader .... the Triangle and the Eagle. Theres a lovely riverside walk and the Gigrin is a must to see the Red Kites.Guest review byAndieUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Disappointed to find the town deserted 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon in July. Only things open were a couple of charity shops. Felt like a ghost town to be honest. Sad as was here 30 years ago same time of year, and the town was alive and kickingGuest review byjillUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A wonderful small town. full of character set amongst attractive hills. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous with a variety of lovely walks ranging from flat strolls along canal and river to substantial hills. Some of the streets in the town centre are quite steep too. The visitor centre has some excellent local guidebooks. There are a few local shops, including newsagents, as well as cafes, pubs and hotels for places to eat, but for more substantial shopping you will need to go into Brecon or Abergavenny.Guest review byTimUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This is a gem of a town even if you don't like books! The countryside is beautiful with lots of places to go for country walks. Great pubs and cafes. Not sure if I would bother with the castle tour.. though glad they bothered to restore it!Guest review byCatherineCanada - 10.0

All the pubs seem to have been recently renovated, many with views at the back over the river Wye. My favourite was the Barley Mow. Good real ale. Had a very nice fish and chips on the main street. A great little town. Next time will explore the reaches of the River Wye more.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom - 8.0
I've known Newtown a little most of my life.
I've known Newtown a little most of my life. It's a fairly sleepy place, since a full East-West by-pass was completed in recent years It's still a full-size Welsh town with all the usual facilities, but situated in some absolutely beautiful Welsh countryside. A great centre for a touring holiday.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 6.0

An ok town, shame as bit of a reflection of the current state of affairs in most British towns these days. Was once I’m sure a bustling and thriving market town. Very handy for walking to the brilliant Powis castle and the local steam train railway too. A few bars and restaurants also.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Montgomery is a lovely little town. It has a ruined castle. There are shops and cafes and 2 pubs. The scenery around is spectacular, and the town would be a good touring centre. I will certainly return.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom
